Paris Mitchell's POV.

So maybe he was right. Ian was really the one who stood by my side all along. I was just too love-sick to even notice.

I washed my face as my eyes grew more and more tired by the second. I even had the nerve to go back to our room. The one we share.

But I guess it doesn't matter. He won't be coming back anyway. He would know I was here.

I slid inside the covers and rewinded the day. Maybe he was right and I was wrong. Why did I even have a crush on Shane anyway? Was it his looks? The way he would smile the entire day? Was it his money?

Then I realized.

Was.

Did.

Past tense.

Because not anymore.

I don't like Shane anymore. At least not more than as a friend. I just sat there at the bed for who knows how long. Asking questions I couldn't find the answers to. Contemplating maybes. Drowning in whys.

That I didn't even notice the door open ever so slightly and a helium balloon floated inside. I looked at it curiously as it came nearer to the bed so I could grab it.

A note was attached at the end of the string of the balloon. I unfold it and in cursive letters, it read;

Smile for me?

xx

I looked back up at the door and was surprised to see another balloon. This time, a cupcake was tied at the string together with another note.

Cupcake?

xx

I took the cupcake and bit into it hesitantly. Who knows? Maybe it has that rape drug thing. Or maybe this is a prank and the delicious-looking cupcake was really cardboard?

I licked my lips and smiled as the sweet flavor danced around my tongue.

Oh yeah that was good.

"I knew you would like it." I looked up to see Ian at the center of the room with a balloon on his hand. He reached it out for me and I took it, staring at him. Another note was attached to it and I looked at him, eyebrows raised. He tilted his head at the note, encouraging me to read it.

I'm sorry.

xx

Two words.

I read it over and over again. Two words and I was wrapped around his finger again.

"So?" Ian cleared his throat awkwardly. "How was the cupcake?"
I laughed and took a bite once again. "Impressive. You made it?"

He nodded proudly with a grin.

"And you intended to just give me one?" I deadpanned and just like that, the tension flew away from the room.

"Of course not, cupcake." He said and dialed the hotel's front desk. "Yeah. Bring them in please. Thanks."

"Did you just call me cupcake?" I asked, looking at him whilst faking astonishment as he sat down on the bed with me.
