Paris' POV.

My phone rang when I was in the middle of reading my book on the lounge chair. It was kind of useless because the pool Shane rented – I keep on forgetting he’s rich – was covered, hence, we were in an enclosed place and there was a roof blocking the sun. When Ian and I went down to the said pool, my mood to go swimming vanished so I just decided to be a bummer and read a book.

“Hello?” I said when I picked up my phone.

“Thank God you picked up.” Shane exclaimed from the other line.

“What’s up?” I asked.

“Where are you guys? Rachel had an afternoon shift so she had to get ready for work after we watched a movie. “ He explained.

“We’re at the pool you paid for.” I explained while getting up from my seat to get chips from the table.

“Right. See you guys.” He hung up.

I shrugged and went to the chips table. “Shane’s coming over.”

“Why? Did his girlfriend ditch him?” Jade snorted.

"No." I laughed slightly as her face fell. "She just had an afternoon shift."

Ian came over with two mugs and placed it on the chips table. "Hot chocolate?"

"It's summer, Ian." I smiled, but still taking the mug of hot chocolate. "You should've brought something cold."

"Well, I'm sorry." He exclaimed sarcastically, holding up his hands.

"If you don't want it, I could just give it to someone else." He said, grabbing my mug.

"Hey! That's mine." I frowned, grabbing it back.

"You said you don't want it." He teased with a slight pout, getting the mug back.

"I did not say that." I gaped, reaching the cup once again.

He got it back within seconds and shook his head. "Hey Jade! You want hot chocolate?" He called over his back — his still bare back might I add.

"Sure."

"What? No! That's mine." I whined, feeling fire at the pit of my stomach when he offered it to Jade. I reached for the mug again but this time, Ian held tight.

"No.” He shook his head teasingly.

"Give it." I said.

"How about no?" Ian smirked. I kept on reaching for the mug but he kept on getting it back. It's like we're playing a game of tug of war with a freaking mug. That's until it tilted and it's contents fell onto my hand.

We both just stared at each other in fear before it occured to me that it was super hot.

"Ow ow ow." I shrieked shaking my hand. Ian immediately got a towel and poured ice water in it before placing it on my hand.

Relief washed through me that I literally sat down to take my breath. He was still holding my hand with the wet towel. We just sat there for a few seconds breathing heavily.

"I just died." I said.

Ian laughed and ruffled my hair. "Yes, and I just saved your life."

"Thank you so much for saving my life. You could have left me burn out there." I thanked. Our face was dead serious before we broke into fits of laughter.

"Seriously, Paris. Are you sure you're okay?" He asked as our laughter died down.

"I'm fine, Ian. It's just a little burn." I smiled reassuringly.

"Ay. Where's my hot choco?" Jade asked, coming up from the pool.

"It's mine." I growled.

"Alright. No need to be feisty." She grumbled going back into the pool with chips on her hand.

"Come on, Paris." Ian stood up, lending me a hand." Let's treat your hand."

∆∆

"What happened to your face?" Jade asked, trying to hide her smile but failing miserably.

We all turned to look at Shane who just came in the room.

"What about it?" Shane asked holding his face.

"There's some disgusting thing." Jade trailed off pointing to his whole face.

Shane frowned and Jade tilted her head to laugh.

"Hey. What happened to your hand?" He asked, noticing my bandaged hand.

I was about to answer when Ian came right beside me."It was nothing." He growled, obviously irritated.

"It doesn't look nothing." Shane eyed the bandage.

"She touched my abs and burnt herself. Is that good enough?" Ian snapped.

Shane nodded slowly and gulped.

"I got great news." Shane immediately changed the topic, sensing Ian's mood.

"What?" Margot asked, shaking her hair with Charlie right behind her.

"There's this semi-formal party nearby and one of my friends here invited me." He smiled. "So are you guys in?"

Jade held a hand up. "Wait. So we have to have dresses and those kind of jazz?"

"Well, yeah." Shane shrugged.

"When is this?" I asked.

"Next week."

"What? How are we going to buy clothes? Do you know how much that costs?" Margot whined and Shane smirked.

"I got that covered."

"Oh sorry. We forgot you're spoiled." Ian rolled his eyes, calming down.

"I'm not." Shane defended. "My parents just give 40% of their salary to my bank account."

"Yes and it's going to take us three years before we could compute those 40%" Charlie snorted.

"Fine, whatever." Shane muttered. "So are you guys in?"

"Do we have a choice?" I grumbled.

"No." Shane beamed.

"Exactly."
