Paris Mitchell's POV.
"What were you thinking, Paris? Is that what you call emotional suicide?" Jade asked as we all left Shane in his room and went to the kitchen to have a private conversation. Obviously, she doesn't agree with my idea.
"Give it a break, Jade. She's just stressed out and tired." Charlie sighed. I saw Margot nod beside him and Ian pinch the bridge of his nose.
"Guys, you don't understand, okay? I'm perfectly fine. What I did is what you call being a supportive friend." I explained grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge.
"You know what? Maybe Paris is right. We need to be more supportive. We need to consider both of their feelings. Paris is okay with this idea and Shane is too. I don't see why this is a big deal. Who knows? Maybe Shane would open his eyes and realize that Paris is the one during this trip." Ian said as I drank my water.
"Alright." Jade sighed. "But the moment Shane is convinced that he loves another girl and you'll cry, it's over. You hear me? We'll leave. You experienced enough heartbreaks." She continued.
I couldn't argue with that. Shane is somewhat popular because of his good looks and charming personality that we all have seen and helped him have a relationship with a lot of girls. Trust me, it's hard to see your long time crush cuddle with another girl in front of you. What hurts more was the time he cried because an attention-seeker, backstabbing, cheating witch dumped him in front of our class.
"I guess." I finally answered and Jade smiled wildly.
"Out of town vacation, here we come!" Charlie cheered and Ian and him high-fived.
"Hell yeah!" Shane said with the same amount of enthusiasm as he walked through the kitchen door. We all stopped what we were doing to stare at him. My heart stopped for a moment with the thought that what if he heard all of those?
"What? When are you guys going to start packing? The private plane will come in an hour." Shane said and we all sighed in relief. He just came in. Thank heavens.
"Well then. Let's get packing!" Margot shouted and Charlie held her waist and kissed her on the side of her head.
"Less kissing. More moving, guys." Ian replied from beside them.
"Jeez, PDA much?" I muttered.
"I heard that. " Shane whispered and I widened my eyes. "Someone's bitter." he said and all heads turned to me.
"Let's go home and pack, guys." Jade said saving me from my misery.
"Thank you." I whispered as we got in her car. She shook her head and I heard her mutter.
"Another one of the reasons why I don't want to go to this trip. He's going to hurt my best friend."
∆∆
"Hello, sweety. Where have you been? We woke up and you were already on your way to Jade's car." my mom said when she saw me walk through the front door.
"We just went to Shane's house." I said sitting on the chair and got a cupcake on top of the dining table. She gave me a knowing look and I internally groaned. She also knows about my crush on Shane years ago even before I tell her.
"We're going on a vacation for a few months. When I say we, I meant Jade, Ian, Margot and Charlie." I said.
"How about Shane?" she asked eagerly. I swear, I think she also has a crush on him.
"We're just going with him. He's kind of running away or looking for a place to breathe in from all the stress and pressure his parents give him. He's also going to find his true love there." I said trying to act nonchalant about the last sentence. Of course it hurts. I have never looked in another guy's direction in a flirty or 'infatuation' way because of him. I haven't even had a boyfriend in 5 years because of him, hoping he would see me more than as a friend. But now, he's the one looking for the 'the right girl'.
"Well then, go pack already. I'm sure the others are also doing the same and they will pick you up anytime now. I'll deposit money in your account but don't spend so much, okay? I'll just tell your dad when he gets home." she said smiling at me. That's what I like about my mom. She's supportive and considerate. Even when she has loads of things to do, she still finds time for me because my dad is almost always at work. We're not filthy rich like Shane but we have more than enough for a living.
"Thanks mom. I'll call you, alright?" I said hugging her and forgetting about the cupcake I picked up minutes ago.
"Yes. Now go and get ready. Shane's looking for you. I mean, he's finding for his true love." she said winking, pulling us apart and I playfully rolled my eyes.
I went to my room and got three luggages. I placed most of my clothes and necessities inside.
After about half an hour, a car honked outside our house while I was braiding my hair. I gathered my luggages and thankful that my mom came up. "I'll help you. They're already waiting." she said and we got downstairs.
After we placed my bags at the back of Shane's big van, I waved to my mom. "I'll call you. Thanks again, mom!" I said blowing a kiss. She waved, smiling as I got inside the van.
Seeing that we are all complete, Shane beamed. "Let's go and find some love, everybody!" he said and started to drive.
Beside me, Jade put her arms around my shoulders and squeezed me. I smiled. "I'm alright." I reassured her.
"I know you are. For now. I'm giving you some strength so that you have enough courage to face Shane if he fancies someone." she said smiling at me.
"Thank you." I replied meaningfully, hugging her.I thought, I needed that strength.
