Almost
You were a sudden heartache at midnight. The first painful sentence in a book I haven't read in ages, the final farewell between the two people in a movie I didn't dare watch again.
You were the shooting star I missed to witness because I was looking at the wrong direction of the sky, the song that I kept on skipping but still on my playlist. You were the cold coffee on the table, the letters I had anticipated but had been lost in the mail, the distance between Mars and Venus; a planet long since gone—that one word that triggers my nostalgia.
You were the letters turned to ashes, the final drop of an ink on a parchment paper, a love that would always have been.
