(song: san francisco by the mowgli's)
"Harry! Will you get out of the bathroom already, I have to get ready!" I shouted as I banged on the door.
"Hold on! I'm lathering," he responded. "Ow! Ow, crap!"
"What?!"
"I got shampoo in my eyes," he whined.
"Harry."
"What?"
"Will you hurry the fudge up?!" I banged the door again.
"You know, you don't sound as threatening as you want to when you use the word 'fudge' to curse."
"Well I'm trying to be a good example for our children," I explained myself.
"Oh yeah, we have those now."
"Harry, did you really forget that we have kids," I groaned, putting my face in my hands.
"Pfft, no," he scoffed. I heard him shut off the water after that and felt relieved that he was finally out of the shower.
"Hurry up, our reservation is in," I looked at my phone, "less than two hours!"
"Okay! Jeez, you're so pushy."
"Stop whining and get dressed."
"Pushy," he sang out to me. I grunted in response and leaned against the wall adjacent to the bathroom door. Moments later, Harry finally walked out.
"Afternoon, sunshine," he kissed me.
"Uh-huh," I murmured as I pushed past him and into the bathroom to shower.
After I took a shower and did my makeup, I rushed to the living room hoping to find Harry.
"Where are the kids?"
"In their room."
"Are they ready?"
"They're coming?" Harry asked with a confused expression. I faced him in disbelief.
"Yes, Harold, we decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary this year as a family."
"Oh. Um, yeah they're ready," he said as he went upstairs two steps at a time in a rushed pace.
"Yeah? Then why are you rushing to their room?"
"No reason!" He called from the top of the stairs. I laughed to myself.
I sat down on the couch, sighing. I couldn't believe it was already our sixth wedding anniversary. Time with Harry has flown by so quickly. Just seven years ago he proposed to me in the special park we claim to be ours. I remember it like it was yesterday. Harry hung up fairy lights all throughout the park, in the trees, the bushes, outlining the little path that led to the small gazebo beside the fountain. Harry and I had just had dinner and went for a stroll in the park, but I was utterly shocked to discover what he had set up. The view was breathtaking.
"Come on," He tugged on my hand with a smile to continue walking and led me to the gazebo, where he proceeded to drop down on one knee. I gasped, covering my mouth with my hands in shock. It was completely unexpected.
"Ren, I--okay, I had a whole speech prepared, but my mind is suddenly going blank," he chuckled nervously. "But that's okay. Everything I wanted to say is all right here," he patted his heart. I laughed a little because that was kind of cheesy.
"I think it's evident how much I love and care about you. You mean absolutely everything to me. My world revolves around you. There are so many ways I can tell you how much I love you, I could sit here for hours, like literally it would take me days to explain how much I love you, but I'm rambling now," he laughed lightly before clearing his throat and continuing.
