"So how come I didn't meet any of the band members at school?" Mallory asked Rodrick as she got in his van.

"The boys don't know about you yet." He admitted. "So England, how was that?"

Mallory stiffened up. She definitely didn't have that many good memories of England.

"What's your favourite colour?" She questioned him.

"Black or dark green." He answered.

Mallory looked at him with an eyebrow raised.

"Really? You seem like a blood red person." She told him.

"Fine fine, I like orange." He huffed. "What about you?"

"Dark purple or sage green." She replied.

"Really? You seem like a dark blue person." Rodrick mocked Mallory.

She punched his shoulder.

"Ow." Rodrick joked as he turned sharply around a corner. "That hurt."

"Nothing hurts as much as your driving." Mallory informed him.

"I'm not that bad." Rodrick disagreed.

"You're wrong about that." She sighed. "Favourite movie?"

"That's a difficult one." Rodrick mumbled. "Labyrinth, what about you?"

"Ten things I hate about you or Submarine." Mallory replied.

"What's Submarine?" Rodrick questioned her.

"Never mind." Mallory shook her head as Rodrick pulled up to the curb outside his house. "I'll go get my guitar."

Mallory got out the van and walked a few steps to the door of her house. She got the key out of her pocket and opened the door.

"Mum, Dad." She called out.

Mallory saw a note on the mirror.

Mal,
You're father and I will be back later due to a business problem. There's pizza in the fridge if you get hungry.

See you soon

She grabbed her guitar before leaving the house and going to her neighbours' garage.

"The boys will be here in a bit." Rodrick informed her. "Do you want anything to drink?"

Mallory shook her head as she continued to set up her guitar. She played a chord to make sure that it was set up properly. The brunette noticed that Rodrick had sat himself behind his drums and was staring at her intently. Mallory continued to play. She alternated between a Gm chord and a Bb chord.

"All my style, all my grace, all I tried to save my face." She started singing. She kept singing the song as Rodrick played along on the guitar with her. "It goes, all my troubles on a burning pile
All lit up and I start to smile."

A huge smile spread across Rodrick's face as he head Mallory sing. She's amazing. He thought.

"Yo, she's amazing." A boy marvelled as he walked in, causing Mallory to stop. "Ben Segal."

"Chris Merkle." The blonde boy behind him introduced himself.

"I'm Mallory, Mallory Hampton-Rivers." The girl smiled.

"I'm guessing you're our new band member then?" Ben asked her.

"Yeah I am." Mallory answered. A chime ran out in her pocket. She got her phone out of her pocket.

'Don't text him back' was written in a notification box.

Mallory quickly replied to the text with
'I've blocked him so it'll be fine'

"Right should we start then?" She questioned.
