For a few days Rodrick and Mallory didn't hang out. They became distant. If they saw each out of the window or in their gardens, they'd ignore each other. Indigo and Mallory still hadn't heard from Peter either. They knew the time zones were different but Mallory had expected go hear from him by now.

Mallory knew something had happened between her parents but she was too scared to ask. She didn't know why. She just didn't want to hear the sentence she was afraid to hear. "your father and I have decided to get a divorce." She was so frightened of it happening.

Mallory saw Frank get out of his car. She decided to go visit the Heffley's. Her mother was working, so she had nothing else to do.

"Hi Mr Heffley." She greeted him.

"Hello Mallory." He replied. "Please, call me Frank."

"Okay Frank." She smiled.

"Do you want to come in?" He asked her.

"Sure." She answered.

She followed Frank through the door. Susan had spoken to him about throwing Manny's blanket in the bin. She then followed him into the living room, where Rodrick was asleep on the sofa. Frank smacked the sofa, causing the teen to wake up.

"Yeah?" Rodrick jumped. "Oh good morning."

"Morning." Frank replied.

Frank sat on an arm chair as Mallory sat next to Rodrick on the sofa. He was still half asleep. Mallory laughed at the boy as she fixed his bed head.

"Congratulations player, all your hard work has paid off." Erupted from the tv.

Frank had turned it on and a wizard riding on the back of a dragon was projected on the screen.

"You played video games all day." The father stated.

"Me?" Greg asked him. "No i've been playing sports."

Rodrick and Mallory snickered, they tried to suppress a laugh.

"No more video games for the rest of summer." Frank announced to is children, mostly to Greg.

"But you can't do that." Greg argued.

"Oh yeah I can." Frank told him. "I will. I am."

He struggled to find the right wire. Rodrick started laughing, Mallory was better at holding in her laugh.

"You think this is funny?" Frank questioned him.

"It's amusing." Rodrick replied.

"Well hey." Frank chuckled. "How about then no video games and no television for the rest of summer, does that make you laugh out loud?"

Mallory was close to laughing but she didn't know what Frank would say to her.

"Dad no." Greg begged.

"I stopped laughing." Rodrick rushed. I stopped."

Frank pulled out all of the wires from the tv.
Mallory burst out laughing at Greg and Rodrick's faces.

"Ha." Frank shouted. "Guess who's the laugher now?"

Frank then left the room. Mallory was still laughing, in fact she had tears at the corners of her eyes. Greg and Rodrick stared at her. Eventually she stopped.

"You can come to my house to watch tv." She whispered to Rodrick so Greg wouldn't hear.

"I'll take you up on that offer." Rodrick mumbled back in her ear.

"I don't doubt it." Mallory smiled. "You'll probably make it better to watch."
