"My dad's taken Greg fishing." Rodrick announced as he and Mallory got out of his van.

They were going to buy snacks before picking Ben up. They were having another band practice. It was at Mallory's house since her father was still in England and her mother was working long shifts. Mallory started to feel like something was going on between her parents. They had only been in America for a week but Peter was back in England.

"Okay." Mallory nodded her head. "Why do I need to know that?"

"I don't know." Rodrick answered. "I just thought that I'd tell you.

The two teens walked into the corner shop. Mallory went straight to the counter and looked at the display that was in front of the till.

"Looking for those?" Rodrick asked her as he pointed at the box of strawberry mento packets.

"Umm yeah." She replied. "Thanks."

Mallory picked three packets up. Rodrick picked up another three. Mallory looked at him.

"What? I have to see if they're worth the hype you're giving them." He shrugged.

"They do live up to the hype." She grinned. "I've only heard good reviews about them."

Rodrick also picked up black licorice.

"What?" He questioned her. "It's my favourite candy."

"I hate licorice." She gagged.

She picked a packet of licorice up anyway. Rodrick smiled at her.

The teens stood in front of the fridge that stored all the drinks. Mallory fiddled with the hem of her skirt. She was wearing a black and white plaid skirt with a black oversized graphic t-shirt and knee high black socks and doc martens. Her hair was straightened and left down. She wore eyeliner and dark lipstick. She picked up a can of pipeline punch Monster and a bottle of apple juice.

"I prefer the blue one." Rodrick informed her, gesturing to the can of Monster.

He picked the Mango Loco one up for himself.

"You know taurine, an ingredient in energy drinks is actually bull semen?" Mallory quizzed the boy.

Rodrick stared at her, disgusted, before looking at the can he picked up.

"It's actually good for you apparently." The girl snorted.

Mallory walked away and put her items on the till before picking up a handful of lollipops and plopping them on the counter too.

"That'll be eight dollars two cents please." The checkout lady told her.

Mallory fished in her black tote bag for some money before placing ten dollars on the side.

"Keep the change." She smiled.

It was getting a bit hot in the store so she waited outside for Rodrick. After a few minutes her phone began to ring, her mother had gotten her a new one since she smashed her old one.

"Hello." Mallory answered it.

"Hi love." Peter's voice was muffled on the other side.

"Why are you calling?" She questioned him. "Mum and I haven't heard from you in a while."

"I just wanted to see how you are." Peter replied.

"I'm fine thanks." She informed him.

Rodrick came out of the shop and looked at Mallory.

"How's nan?" She asked her father.

"She's uh getting better." He answered.

"Okay, tell her I say hi." Mallory instructed him.

"I will." She told her. "Look Mal, before your mum tells you anything I just wanted to explain why i'm in England."

"Go on then." She mumbled as she got into the van.

"Your mum and I have been fighting a lot lately, it started before we moved to America." Peter started. "I just don't know if it's going to stop."

"So your going to give up on your marriage?" She questioned him.

"No, I just.." Peter stopped. There was a pause for a few minutes. "I have to go now but i'll call you again soon."

Peter hung up the phone. Mallory stared out of the window in front of her.

"Are you alright?" Rodrick asked her.

"My mum and dad have been fighting apparently." She answered. "Now my dad's just giving up on their relationship."

Rodrick opened a packet of strawberry mentos and put on in his mouth.

"That sucks." He frowned. "But these are really good."

"I know right." Mallory laughed.
