The minute the funeral was over, Mallory went back home. She didn't stay for the wake. She just locked herself in her bedroom and sat on the floor crying.

Her mother was her biggest hero and now she was gone. It would be just Mallory and her dad for the rest of her life.

Mallory heard footsteps downstairs but didn't care about it. After a few moments a loud banging noise came from the other side of her door.

"Go away." She sobbed.

"No." A voice refused. "I'm not leaving until you talk to me. Tell me about how you feel, tell me about what your thinking. I want to know."

"You don't want to know anything." Mallory shook her head.

"Yes I do." Rodrick replied.

Mallory sat with her back to the door.

"It's all a mess." She wiped away tears from her cheeks. "My mum was here and we were joking about the neighbours and now she's gone."

Rodrick sat down against the other side of the door.

"I don't even think that I remember her voice." Mallory admitted. "And nothing is ever going to be okay between me and my dad. I don't think I can forgive him for giving up on his marriage. And I really like you Rodrick. I really want us to work out but right now..."

"There's too much going on, I get that." Rodrick reassured her. "I've already promised that I'm going to wait for you."

"I don't know how long you're going to be waiting Rodrick and that's what scares me. What if when I'm finally ready, you've moved on?" Mallory inquired.

"I promise you this Mallory, I will never move on. It's you that I want. It'll always be you." Rodrick promised.

Mallory stood up and opened her bedroom door. Rodrick stood up and gave her a hug.

"Can we watch a movie or something?" The girl questioned.

"You can pick the movie and I'll go get snacks." Rodrick smiled.

The two teens were sitting on Mallory's bed. Rodrick was sitting against the headboard with his arms around Mallory in front of him.

They were watching Tangled.

"One day, we'll live in a big house that has a pool and a balcony and we'll be watching this movie with our children thinking about today." Rodrick planned.

"You're thinking about a future together?" Mallory inquired.

"Yeah, I was thinking of taking your last name because Rodrick Hampton-Rivers sounds better than Mallory Heffley." Rodrick smiled at the girl he loved.

"Which surname would our children have?" Mallory asked.

"Well we'd have two girls and a boy." Rodrick started. "Allie Heffley, Bella Heffley and Ollie Heffley."

"But then our children would have different surnames to us." Mallory stated. "I don't mind taking your last name."

"We'll think about it more throughout the years." Rodrick decided.

"We'll have two cats. One black and one ginger and they'd be called Lorelai and Sookie." Mallory added to the plans.

"Gilmore Girls characters." Rodrick recognised the names.

"How did you know?" Mallory questioned.

"I may have watched it once." Rodrick shrugged.
