Chapter 19: A Date with Destiny

"So, that's it?" Willow asked over the phone. "No more monsters?"

"Yyyyup! We're home free!" Luz smiled. "I mean, there's still that Golden Guard creep, but he hasn't bothered me in a long time!" She laughed. "If I can beat Grom? He's no match for me."

"Wow! So the nightmare is really over...guess your superhero days are almost done." Willow said. "Oh! By the way! When do we get to meet King?"

"Soon! Soon! Ooh! Maybe today actually!" Luz smiled before her phone rang. "Oh! I have another call! Brb!" She then blinked. "Am...am I saying it right?"

"Yup!" Willow said before hanging up.

Luz then answered the other call. "Hello! Luz Noceda speaking!"

"L-Luz?" A familiar voice spoke. "Oh, uhh, hey! It's Amity!"

Luz's eyes widened and her face reddened. "A-Amity! What b-brings you here?"

"I'm, uhhh, n-not there." Amity laughed.

Luz laughed nervously. "O-Of course! Why would you be here?" She then slapped herself to focus. "So, what's up?"

"W-W-Well...are you busy today...?" Amity asked, seemingly nervous of something.

"No, not really." Luz said. "Why?"

"I-I-I was...wondering...i-if maybe...you and I...could go to the fair? I-It's in town, and my mom's out on vacation! S-So, Dad's letting me and my siblings h-have a little fun." Amity then cleared her throat. "Ummm, if you want too..."

Luz's eyes widened and she froze up before quickly forcing herself to respond. "L-Like...a d-date?"

"Y-Yeah! I mean, i-it doesn't have to be a date!" Amity said quickly. "I-It's just, uhh, friends hanging out! Yeah! Having fun!"

"S-Sounds great! When?" Luz asked, feeling a giant smile creep onto her face.

"W-Well, it starts this afternoon, so I can meet you at the school, and from there it's only a short walk!"

"R-Right! I'll cya there!"

"Y-Yup!" Amity said before hanging up.

Luz slowly put her phone in her pocket and then bounced in place, squealing. She then tried to calm herself down, but now that was impossible. She felt like she was bouncing off the walls.

Then, there was a knock on her door. "Hey! Kid! I'm gonna be gone for a few hours!"

"H-Huh? Oh! Uhhh! Okay!" Luz then opened the door. "Ummm, actually I plan on going somewhere too."

Eda tilted her head. "Where?"

"Ummm, the fair! Whatever that is, Amity invited me!" Luz smiled.

"Awww, the kid's first date." Eda laughed. "Well, then who's gonna watch King?"

"I can get Willow and Gus to do it! They've been wanting to meet him for quite some time!" Luz said.

"Hmmm...fine. But if they mess with my house, I'm baking them into a pie." Eda said before she walked outside.

Luz smiled before walking down the stairs to see King playing with a bunny plushie, wearing his golden crown.

"Hey, King!" Luz smiled as she sat down next to him. "How's my favorite little guy?"

"I'm your only little guy!" King laughed, hugging his mother.

Luz kissed his forehead before setting him in her lap. "So. Something is gonna happen today. And I want you to know you don't have to be scared."
