Yuma takes off her glove to show her Fenrir tattoo, while Yuki takes off her glove to reveal a bunch of deep looking scars.
“Oh… They mark you, and you have to be accepted to your position… those who don’t get killed…” Yuki’s face darkens again, just for a second.“Yuki… You’re seriously pathetic. That’s all you got? Sayuri has more than you. Amateurs.” Koko holds onto her sleeves.
“It wasn't a competition. We were just showing what we were hiding. I’m not used to showing the scars on my hands anyways…” Yuki rubs the sides of her wrist which had 2 identical crescent shaped scars.
“What are those from?” Yuma asks, pointing at them.
“...You don't wanna know.” Yuki smiles sort of insanely, then reverts her gaze back to normal, pulling on her gloves.
“Anyways… what are we doing?” Koko pipes up.
“I dunno, let’s just talk.” Yuma sits down in the middle of the hallway, smiling. Yuki sits down directly next to her, and they spend the next hour talking about nothing.
Yuma waves at the two of them, who continue to talk as if they’ve been friends for a while. Yuma walks off, just thinking and walking with no destination. Yuma lets her feet walk for her, and soon enough, she is in front of Miana’s dorm. She knocks on the door, half expecting silence.
“Yeah?” Miana opens the door, her already messy hair even messier.
“Hey, you alright? You looked really frustrated earlier…” Yuma gives a comforting smile. Miana rubs her eyes.
“Yep. Yuki knows what to do when I get like that, so it’s really not that big of a deal. Thanks anyway…” Miana looks down, trailing off.
“Hm… Wanna take your mind off it? There's an entire workshop upstairs, and the computer still isn’t working. Oh… and if you could, ya know, maybe plan something or make it… Uh anyways!” Yuma claps her hands together, snapping both of them out of a daze.
“Yeah… Yeah! That sounds fun! C’mon!” Miana walks out of her room, Yuma following close behind. They walk up the stairs and down the left hallway, arriving at their destination.
“Alright! So, planning first, or computer?” Miana looks around, pulling out the now half torn apart computer and some pieces of paper.
“Computer. It’s more important, it could be a way to get out of here.” Yuma says.
“You wanna help?” Miana smiles, picking up a screwdriver and holding it out to her.
“Sure… I’ve never really done things like this before…” Yuma takes it nervously.
“I’ll walk you through it. Okay, so this part right here goes into the bottom…” Miana picks up a part, handing it to Yuma and points to where it goes.
“Okay… then… screws?” Yuma asks.
“Not yet. We need to make sure the battery is good to go, and everything’s connected. Okay, this part connects to the other part…” Yuma connects the two. “Yeah! Like that!”
“What next?” Miana grabs another part, moving closer to the computer.
“This part goes into this small space…” Miana slides it in with expertise. They continue to work, each doing their part, Miana explaining where each part goes.
“Okay, so now we screw the bottom on. Here.” Miana hands her the part, and Yuma takes it and screws it on.
“W-will it work now?” Yuma flips the computer over, pausing before slowly pushing the ‘on’ button. The computer's screen turns a bright white, showing a password lock.
“Oh come on! We do one thing, but it doesn’t even let us in?” Yuma sits back, putting her head in her hands.
“Hey, it’ll be okay. I’ll see if I can bypass the security, but after that, who knows what kind of encryption is on those files and such.” Miana puts a hand on Yuma's shoulder, speaking calmly.
“That's how you did it… Woah…” Yuma looks up at her. Miana gives a confused look. “That’s how you tamed Yuki, isn’t it?” Miana chuckles and smiles.
“Tamed… really isn’t the right word. She can’t be ‘tamed’. I can, however, calm her down enough to where she’ll listen to you instead of ignoring you. We’ve been friends for our entire lives, our families were always close. Me being the older of the two of us, I’d normally drag her along to different things, but I would follow her to the ends of the earth if I had to.” Miana smiles and sits down next to Yuma.
“Woah… you probably have a lot of embarrassing moments and stories from when you two were kids…”
“Yep. She used to just sit in a corner and sulk for hours at a time. I was always the one to pull her out of the corner.” Miana laughs and grabs a piece of paper. “Anyways, what was it you wanted me to make?”
“It's just a machine to help with my aim, and dodging. So, sorta like the machine that has the baseballs to practice your pitch[ck][cl], but with bullets, and differing speeds. Do you think… you think that's possible?” Miana nods.
“I’ve made something like that before. But I have to warn you. You of all people should know bullets travel incredibly fast. You need to do a whole lot of training before you could use it, okay? I don’t want you to get hurt.”
“Alright. How do I train?” Yuma looks intently at Miana, who had started to sketch while she talked.
“Yuki. She’s trained like that for quite a while now, she could probably teach you. I could as well, but you seem closer to Yuki.” Miana continues to sketch.
“Wait, you can do what Yuki did too?” Yuma looks shocked.
“What Yuki did…?” Miana looks up at Yuma.
“Oh, we had a little practice fight, and Yuki got hit twice, but managed to dodge almost every single bullet, deflecting a couple as well.” Miana giggles.
“Of course she got hit twice. One, let me guess, was from not taking away your weapon at the end, right?” Miana grins at Yuma.
“Yep. And the other time, I predicted her moves, shooting her in the leg.”
“Mhm, sounds like Yuki. Could I see one of your guns? I’d like to see how well they’re made.” Yuma takes out her pistol, handing it to Miana, who held it with light fingers and the utmost care.
“Not bad… You’ve used this for a while now, huh?” Miana smiles and hands it back to Yuma.
“Yeah, I like this one. You’re… you’re a lot more knowledgeable than you look. And stronger than you look as well.”
“People tell me that a lot. I’m different, just like you, just like Yuki, just like all of us here. We all have different strengths and weaknesses. We all have flaws, and secrets we want kept hidden. I decided a long time ago I wasn’t going to think of the world as an equation, and see people for how they really are. I’m still calculating, but I care.” Miana smiles at Yuma.
“But… when someone has a high IQ, they normally have a lower EQ… How are you like this?” Yuma asks.
“I’m weird.” Miana turns back to her work, still smiling. Yuma smiles too, and watches her for a little while longer, then says her goodbyes and walks out. Yuma heads over to the cafeteria, grabbing some food before she goes to bed. Walking back to her dorm, she sees Koko and Yuki talking, Yuki's face a little more terrifying than normal. Yuma walks over to them.
“Is… everything okay here?” Koko looks at her and grins a bit, Yuki's face returning to normal terrifying.
“Yep. Yuki was just… telling me a little bit about herself.” Koko looks at her and Yuki nods.
“Oh nice. By the way, Miana’s really nice Yuki, how do you two even get along?” Yuki shrugs.
“She was my first friend, and my only friend for a very long time. I like being around her, she makes me feel things.” Yuki looks off to the side, visibly embarrassed.
“Alright, I’ll leave you two to it! Seeya later!” Yuma walks into her dorm, closing the door. She sighs a breath of relief, nobody was killed today, and everyone looked happy. She lays down and falls asleep.
