“Go away you little mole!” Yuki slams her foot into the tile Yuma was trying to get in with.
“That’s not how you treat a friend!” Yuma shouts back angrily. “Friends don’t stab each other!”
“It was payback for the time you shot me!” Yuki snarls and kicks the tile over, shattering it. Yuma gets up and narrowly dodges a slice through the air. She jumps back.
“Why are you doing this? Couldn’t you do what Miana wants you to do?” At the sound of her name, Yuki throws her hatchet into the wall, walks over, and pins Yuma to the ground, putting pressure on her throat.
“Don’t you dare. Ever. Speak her name.” Yuki snarls, getting the glint in her eyes.
“Why? I know what Miana wants,” Yuki puts on more pressure, “and it’s not this.”
“So the little gun girl thinks what's best for everyone then?” Yuki smiles.
“...n-no…” Yuma’s breath was quickening, trying to get enough air into her lungs.
“I’m getting the hell out of here. And you can’t do anything about it. Probably because you’re the one who’s gonna be dead!” Yuki says in a sing-song voice.
“...no…” Yuma pushes, pushes as hard as she can, but Yuki’s grip is iron tight. She struggles for a few seconds… then the darkness starts to creep in.
“...please...Yuki...I-i care…” Yuma, almost passed out, says.
The pressure suddenly lifts.
“Get out. Nobody’s allowed to say that to me. Not without being burned alive.” Yuki snarls and pushes Yuma to the hole in the ground. Yuma takes a huge breath, gulping for air.
“Bye Yuki… I know this,” Yuma gestures to Yuki, “Miana never wanted you to hurt or be this way.” Yuma disappears through the floor before Yuki could try and kill her again. She hears things breaking and dripping as she crawls through the tunnel.
Yuma lays back down on her bed, after she had replaced the tile. She stares at the ceiling, trying to calm herself down from the horror she just felt. Yuki, she wasn’t herself anymore. And Yuma didn’t think she could change her back.

“Rise and shine ya little killin’ machines! Get ready to greet another beautiful day! Weather: pale brown skies and air conditioned rooms!” The monitor shuts off as Yuma rubs her eyes. She had forgotten to take off her clothes, but that didn’t matter today. She had to get up, to talk to people! She jumps out of bed, peeling off her sweaty old sweatshirt and replacing it with a brand new one from her closet. Pulling it over her head, she opens the door to see Nao standing there, about to press the doorbell.
“Yuma!” Nao says and jumps to her level.
“That was terrifying. Hey Nao.” Yuma gives a soft smile in response.
“I was about to get you up. The others are in the cafeteria, we were waiting for you!” Nao giggles.
“E-everyone…?” Yuma asks.
“Well, everyone who wanted to be there… we’re not trying with Yuki… she’s scary…” Nao shrinks, and Yuma puts a hand onto her shoulder.
“We don’t have to deal with her, okay?”
Nao nods. The two of them walk towards the cafeteria, Nao running ahead then stopping for Yuma. She opens the cafeteria doors and steps inside.
“Hey Yuma! You’re okay!” Izumi says, walking over and claps her on the shoulder, smiling widely. “We all missed you!” Sayuri nods, and everyone else affirms.
“A-are you okay? I-i know I didn’t f-fix you as well as Y-yu… but I-i’m actually t-trained… so it won’t get infected,” Sayuri says shyly. Yuma walks over to her.
“I can’t feel the pain so it must be good. And I can walk. So I think you did perfect! Don’t beat yourself up!” Yuma smiles.
“Mhm! You were so great under pressure too!” Nao runs over to her and hugs her torso.
“Ehe… t-thanks you two…” Sayuri looks down at Nao, still hugging her, and blushes only slightly enough for Yuma to see. Sayuri and Yuma’s gaze meet, and Yuma gives a subtle wink and thumbs up, making Sayuri blush even more. Yuma turns to Naoto and Chinatsu, who are sitting at one of the tables talking and drawing over coffee. She strains to listen in, but realizes they should probably have their moment. She instead walks over to Izumi.
“Hey! How are you doing today?” Yuma asks and smiles.
“I’m good, just afraid someone will fucking kill the other… and it’s most likely going to be Yuki… I want to know how to get out of here… and I think Aya knew how…” Izumi sighs, showing her frustration and distrust in her classmates.
“Yeah… I don’t know if I can handle another trial after Kayden and Ayane…”
“Hey, let’s not deal with the past right now. If you did, it could probably… kill you…” Izumi looks over at Yuma then looks away.
“Yeah… Well, thanks for your advice. I gotta go talk to Koko now, see if she knows anything,” Yuma says then walks away. She walks into the kitchen, where she finds Koko throwing knives angrily into the wall.
“Uh Koko? I don’t think that’s healthy…” Yuma says, taking away the knife she was about to throw.
“I know…” She collapses into Yuma’s arms.
“Hey, what happened?”
“Yuki happened.”
“...Explain?” Yuma sits on the ground, Koko doing the same.
“I was up at like 2, so I went to go talk with Yuki, and she was doing the really crazy stuff. Like singsongy murdery songs.” Koko shudders, “I’ve dealt with loads of problems, but none as bad as this… If I only stopped it…” Yuma places a hand over Koko’s mouth, silencing her.
“Nope. Yuki’s crazy of her own volition. Sure, she might’ve always been crazy, but we’ve both experienced death, and we’re not crazy.” Koko stays silent.
“Koko? Are you hiding something from me?”
“Nah, it’s not important. I thought that maybe what she told me might be part of the cause… never mind.” Koko shakes the thought off.
“Alright. If you remember anything else important, tell me. There’s only 8 of us Ultimates left.” Yuma’s eyes widen as she figures out something else.
“I have to go. I’ll see you later Koko!” She jumps up and runs upstairs, ignoring Koko’s protests, down the hallway, and through the door. She slams it shut behind her. She runs over to the crowded desk, opens the computer, and logs in. She quickly clicks on the file “Ultimates” and types in what she thinks is the password. Another video file opens up.
