“T-thanks… u-uh…” Koko groans slightly.
“What's wrong? We need to head back to the crime scene, there has to be something else I missed…”
“...I’m going to get in so much trouble for telling three people this, so you two better not tell any of the higher-ups that you know.” Koko messes with her bangs.
“My lips are sealed.” Naoto nods at her, smiling a bit. The three of them walk back to the room.
“Why is it so c-cold in here… I’m wearing something long sleeved and it’s still cold…” Sayuri had stood up from the body and was now leaning against the wall with Izumi. Koko looks around.
“Something… something different about one of you.” Kokos eyes glanced around, looking intently at everyone.
“Koko…? What do you mean?” Yuma looks over at her.
“It's you.” Koko points to one of the corners where Ayane was trying to cheer up Nao.
“Nao looks completely normal Koko…”
“Not Nao. Ayane. You… you look off. It’s not just me, right?”
“Heyyy, now that you mention it, ya do look a bit… strange.” Izumi pushes herself from the wall and walks closer to her.
“Hm? What do you mean?”
“...Did you do your hair differently? Are… are you wearing something different?” Koko walks closer with Izumi.
“...Hey wait a sec, Ayane, where’s your jacket?”Izumi tilts her head.
“Oh!” Ayane chuckles a bit. “The zipper broke. Yuki was fixing it for me when I went to the party, and I was going to ask for it back, but then… this happened and I didn't want to stress her.” She smiles slightly.
“Couldn't you just have fixed it if the zipper broke?” Yuma asks.
“There was no way I could have fixed that.” Ayane shakes her head.
“Well, why aren’t you wearing one of the ones Monokuma gave you? I know we all have a million copies of our clothes in our room, you’re no exception.” Yuma pressures Ayane, who just sadly shakes her head.
“The original jacket is special to me. I was going to wear one of the extras, but it just felt off…” Ayanes gives her head another shake, and her normal smile comes back.
“...I’ll ask her then.” Koko walks off.
“I’m off to go study what I have. Come get me when it’s time for the trial.” Yuma walks off as well, going to her dorm.
Koko stands in front of Yuki's dorm door, her arm raised, ready to knock. She sighs and hesitantly knocks on the door, finding it unlocked. She walks in and sees Yuki sitting on her bed, back faced to the door barely moving.
“Hey, is everything okay?” Koko walks in and shuts the door.
“If you going kill me, do it.” Yuki's voice had none of the anger she showed previously, and her broken English matched her broken tone.
“I’m not doing that. Listen, I don't want to be here any more than you want me to be here. I just have a question. Did Ayane ever give you her jacket?” Yuki nods.
“It broke.”
“Did the zipper break?” Yuki nods again.
“Broke.”
“Okay.” Koko turns to walk out. “Oh, and Yuki, one last thing. Thank you for teaching me a valuable lesson about how anyone could betray you. I’ll now never be letting my walls down. Ever.” She shoots a glare toward Yuki's back.
“Πώς θα νιώθατε αν πέθανε Yuma.” Yuki's dead voice rings out again.
“I… Κι εγω θα ημουν αναστατωμενος, αλλα αυτο δεν ειναι δικαιολογια για να με πεταξεις κατω απο το λεωφορειο. ‘Ησουν ο πρωτος μον φιλος. Ο καλυτερος φιλος μου, και εσυ απλα… Με πεταξε μακρια. I think I’ve said enough.” Koko walks out with tears in her eyes, and walks down the hall, knocking on Yumas dorm room.
“Hey, what’s up?” Yuma answers the door, looking at Kokos' downcast face.
“Yuki… Nevermind.” Koko waves her off, and Yuma pulls her into another hug.
“I trust you. I knew you couldn't have done it ever since you saw the body. Let's get through this trial, alright?” The two of them smile, though sadly, for what's to come.
“I’m getting sick and tired of you all just walking and waiting around… Let’s spice it up! Everyone, please head to the trial room!” The monitor flickers on, and Monokumas smiling face lights up.
“Here we go again…” Koko sighs. The two of them walk towards the entrance to the trial room, downcast. They open the door and see that most everyone was already there.
“H-hey… I-it’ll be okay…” Sayuri is standing in the middle of the room, hugging and comforting a crying Nao.
“W-why does this keep happening? I thought… I thought if we all got along… this wouldn't happen…” Nao looks at her, tears streaming down her face.
“I-i thought that this,” Sayuri gestures around. “Wouldn't happen anymore either… But we’re here a-and we have to do this… s-stay strong N-nao…” Sayuri holds her tight.
“...Come on guys. No time for tears yet.” Koko looks around at everyone's faces, the grim determination set on each of their faces portrayed a bit differently.
“R-right.” Naoto nods.
“Are we all here?” Yuma looks around.
“Nah, Satan reincarnated isn’t here.” Izumi says.
“Satan… reincarnated?” Yuma stares at Izumi.
“I-Izumi means Yuki…” Sayuri says, still holding on to Nao.
“Ah. Well, where is she? We need her here to start…” The doors open again and Yuki stalks in, her dead face gone, replaced by her anger again.
“Yuki, you need to calm do-” Yuma places her hand on Yuki's shoulder, who immediately hits her hand away with full force.
“See? Satan reincarnated.” Izumi folds her arms, returning Yuki's glare.
Everyone steps into the elevator, silently standing as the elevator descends down, further and further. Yumas stomach drops, one of the 9 remaining people were going to die, one way or another. There was nothing she could’ve done to stop it. The seemingly never ending elevator finally came to a stop after eternity, and everyone stepped out into the trial room, the light blinding after the long, dark ride down.
“Puhuhuhu~! Why the long faces everyone! It’s trial time! No need to be sad!” Monokuma’s cheerful voice and smile greeted them, sitting in his spot as always. Yuma ignores him and steps up to her podium, wincing slightly at the podium next to her, Kaydens podium and portrait.
