SHE'S LEAVING HOME: PART TWO 11x23

— Meredith and Zola

Meredith sat under the umbrella, on the beach towel as she watched Zola run to the water. She thought about everything. He husbands death, her mother, how Alex and Matilda were doing.

"Sweetie, don't go too far!" Meredith yelled from where she sat.

Zola ran back to Bailey, who sat about five feet in front of Meredith. Both kids made a sandcastle. Trying to enjoy the rest of the time they had there.

NEW YEAR'S DAY

— Jackson and Arizona

"Sir, I hear you saying that you have no answers, but I need you to have some damn answers!" Jackson yelled into the phone. "That—," He slams the phone into the receiver.

Arizona walked into the room, and shut the door behind her, "Hey. Is everything okay?"

Jackson sighed then sat on the rolling chair, "No, everything is not okay. She should never have gone. April should never have gone to a freakin' combat zone." He said loudly.

Arizona sighed and put her hands in her pockets, "I know. I know it's hard."

Jackson puts his hand on his forehead, "It's not just hard. It's—,"

"Just— she lost a leg." She watched as Jackson sat there, growing confused. "You know, with everything that happened this passed year with you and your baby, she.." Arizona sat down in the chair in front of Jackson, "She lost a leg. And she's learning how to walk again, and you.. you have to let her do that."

Jackson slightly shook his head, "Why? Why should I do that? Why does she get to go off and put herself in danger and just leave me here to.. if she lost a leg, then I lost a leg, too. But guess what— I still get up every morning. I face every day. I don't get to jump on a plane and fly halfway across the damn world so that all that April has left of me is some crappy memory of me yelling at her from a picture on a phone!" Jackson rants.

"Wait, what happened?"

"We were talking, and then there was gunfire, a lot of it, and the call got cut off. And I have not been able to get ahold of her since. I don't know.. where she is." Jackson shakes his head, "I don't even know where she is." They sat there looking at each other.

— Jo

"Happy new year!" Jo enters the room with the supplies for their procedures, "How are we feeling—," Jo gets cut off by Anne.

"Shh!" She waves her hand and puts a finger up to her lips.

"Oh." Jo mutters quietly, she walks over to Anne's side of the room.

"Good." She breaths a sigh of relief, "Sorry, we were up all night, and I— I know, I know that's bad, but—," She starts laughing, "we wanted to watch the ball drop, and then we started talking and we couldn't shut up." Jo starts giggling as Anne continues talking, "So, I told her that I would take the first torture shift today.. just let her sleep."

"Okay." Jo walks to the other side and closes the curtains. She looks down at JJ's cold body. She looks at her pale face and how she isn't breathing.
