I pouted, hindi alam kung bakit nagngingiti. I was sitting next to Placido while he drives and in the back sat Aya Ricaforte. It's obviously annoying.

"By the way, Sid, Tita Pearl said you already saw my gifts. Do you love it?" basag ni Aya Ricaforte sa katahimikan.

"Thanks. They're very much ugly," basa ko. I flipped to the other page of the book, ang nguso ay mas humaba.

In my peripheral vision, Placido glanced at me.

"They're fine. I like it. Thanks," Placido replied. Siguro to save Aya Ricaforte's ass.

"Tita Pearl told me that you'll take architecture instead of aviation. Ayaw mo bang maging pilot like your father? Like what Lola Madrona wanted you to take?"

"And you care because?" basa ko ulit.

His jaw tightened. I mentally chuckled.

Placido cleared his throat. "Yes, Aya. My father is a pilot and my grandmother wanted me to be like him. But that doesn't mean I'll take their advices. I'll follow mine."

"Oh, that's fine, I guess..." nalulungkot na bulong ni Aya Ricaforte. "I just thought that it will be good if you're a pilot and I'm a flight attendant then some other time, we'll have a flight together."

I snorted, hindi napigilan. Ang korni lang. I flipped to another page para kunwari ay wala akong ginawang ingay kanina. Nakakaguilty naman. Abala yata ako sa kanilang dalawa.

I was going to cry na.

Mahinang natawa si Aya. "Um, since you're a local here, maybe you can accompany me sometime in a salon here? I'm thinking of cutting my hair until my mid-back. And, how about malls? I'm also planning to buy some materials for college since I'll continue my studies here na."

'Di ka makabili mag-isa?

I boldly rolled my eyes, hinayaan si Placido na makita ito. Nang sumulyap ulit siya ay ngumiwi ako at ibinalik ang atensyon sa librong binabasa. He could just drop me off since Garnett's car was following us at pwede akong doon na lang sumakay papunta sa secluded area na sinasabi ni Yana.

"I'm sorry, Aya. My schedule's actually full this semester. I can just send Polly to you so she can accompany you," Placido said.

"Oh, well..." Aya Ricaforte dramatically sighed. "Vacation, then. April or May... I'm sure you're not busy na that time."

"Don't you have your own feet and hands?" I breathed out, reading a dialogue the female character said. I bit my lower lip and continued reading... mentally muna.

Aya Ricaforte groaned.

"You know, I hate people who don't know how to shut their mouth up, especially when I'm talking."

"I hate cheaters," sabi ko na talaga para matahimik naman siya. Ang ingay lang.

I closed my book and looked at Aya Ricaforte when her breathing became agile. Namumula siya. Because of the radiance of the rising sun, kitang-kita ang pamumula ng mukha at leeg niya. Her brows were furrowed. She looked like a goddess ready to release her wrath to me.

Kahit talaga galit, walang-wala ang mukha ko.

"Okay ka lang ba?" tanong ko dito.

"What did you just say?!" she blurted out.

I winced. Let me rephrase myself. She looked like a witch ready to release a curse to me.

I bit the insides of my cheeks and tilted my head.
