The next morning I woke up and Viv wasn't in the tent. I put on a hoodie and went out to see her standing over the fire.
I sleepily said, "Morning."
She turned around with a smile on her face and said, "Good morning. I'm making us some tea."
"Oh, thanks. Didn't think of you as such a morning person. Look at you, you're glowing."
"I'm not. I hate the mornings, but the fresh air did some wonders."
"You should consider moving here permanently, then."
"Hahaha. One day, maybe."
I said, "How's your cheek?" and went closer to her to take off the band-aid.
"It's fine. Doesn't hurt anymore."
I saw the cut in the daylight for the first time and it looked really deep.
"You should keep the band-aid off, so the cut heals faster."
"Alright, doc."
We sat down to drink our tea and it turned out to be one of the most relaxing mornings of my life. Fresh air, good tea, perfect company.
