When the girls left, Viv and I stood in the room, silently looking at each other. She was slowly walking towards me, her smile getting bigger with every step.
"Viv?"
"Yeeees?" she said, hugging me.
"Before I start getting excited, I want to know what your plans for the future are."
"I'm not sure I follow."
"Are you going to leave Arsenal?"
"I don't know."
"Who does?"
"I found out that my parents were Dutch and we only moved to the UK when I was three."
"Oh wow. Do you know if you have any relatives there?"
"Yeah, I've found some names and addresses."
"Are you planning on moving to the Netherlands, then?"
"I want to visit first and then I'll see."
"Got it."
I went and sat on the couch.
She joined me and said, "You wanna come with me?"
"To the Netherlands?"
"Yeah."
"You want me to?"
"Of course I do."
"Alright, then," I said with a smile.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah."
"How can we get there, though?"
"On a plane?"
"Oh, ok."
"How else? Do you wanna teleport there or something?" I asked laughing.
"I've destroyed the tech."
"YOU WHAT?"
"We don't need that in our lives."
"Ummm, yes, we do."
"I wanted to cut ties with my past and it seemed like the right thing to do."
"Fair point."
"But that was so selfish of me because I destroyed my parents' life's work."
"I'm sure they would understand."
"I wish I had a little more time with them."
I tightened my hold of her and said, "I know, baby. I'm sorry."
"I'm so lucky to have you in my life, Lis."
"Me too, hun. Me too."
We sat there cuddled up for quite some time until I got the courage to finally say, "Viv, will you go out with me? But for real this time. Like, officially."
She stood up and left the room.
Great, I fucked up again.
