CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE

ANOTHER WEEK has passed and their third mission was also a success. Sabay-sabay namang nagsi-ayos ng gamit ang team ni Charles at si Wynter para sa pag-uwi nila ng Pilipinas para sunduin ang huli nilang misyon at dalhin sa Thailand, specifically sa LUST DAWN.

Pareho lang sila ng katwiran ni Wynter. Mas magiging kampante sila kung kasama rin nila ang dalawa pa nilang kaibigan. Plus LUST DAWN may not look like it, but it's one of the most secure places in the world. Pinagsama ba naman ang talino nila Narae at Charles pagdating sa technical stuff, they made an indestructible security system.

Mas magiging maayos pa ang security nila Angelo, Narae, at Anurak dahil kasama na ni Charles ang buong team niya. Light would disguise as the club's DJ, Kathleya as a bartender, Dian as a bouncer, and Khrysgen as a waiter.

Also, for the first time, they'll break one of the DAWN rules. For the sake of Angelo's safety, he'll be staying at the DAWN's penthouse.

(Pero saan siya matutulog?) agad na tanong ni Narae.

Naka-video call silang apat. Magkasama sila Charles at Wynter, at sila Narae at Anurak. Kasalukuyan din silang nasa ere kasama ang team niya na nagkanya-kanyang pwestuhan sa loob ng eroplano.

The twins were busy playing cards while Light and Dian were playing jack-en-poy.

"And I won again!" biglang sigaw ni Light saka kinaltukan si Dian.

"Mierda! That's stronger than the last one!" reklamo naman nito.

"Then win. Para naman makabawi ka. Konti na lang kokoronahan ko na ang sarili ko bilang Jack-en-Poy King," pagyayabang ni Light.

"Does that title even exist?"

Charles tuned them out and focused his attention on the video call.

(Sa swimming pool. Try mo siyang patulugin doon.) Anurak sarcastically commented.

Agad naman itong hinampas ni Narae sa braso. (I'm serious.) Bigla itong tumingin sa kanya. (I doubt that Unnie would let Oppa stay with you, D.)

Charles rolled his eyes. "I also have no plans of staying in one room with him."

(Weh? Why do I have a hard time believing that?) pang-aasar ni Anurak.

It was Wynter's turn to talk. "Hermano would take my room. I'll be staying in Narae's room."

Pareho namang sumang-ayon ang dalawa. (So hanggang tulog lang slash tira si Kuya Angelo sa penthouse, ha? Breaking one rule is enough.) Tiningnan na naman siya ni Narae. (And D, heads up. Madalas kaming nakatambay ni insan sa penthouse. So ehem.)

(Ehem. No to p*rn please. Ehem.) segunda ni Anurak na nagpalukot ng mukha ni Charles.

"Stop teasing Dom," sita ni Wyn sa dalawa na nakinig naman. "Anyways, our plane's about to land. Magpapahinga lang muna kami ng isang gabi sa Pinas tapos pupunta na kami riyan."

(Got it, Unnie! Am I gonna fix your room for Oppa or not na muna?)

"I'll handle my stuff. Thanks for the offer, Nar."

(No worries, Unnie. Have a safe trip!)

(Call us when you're on a plane to Thailand, oki?)

"Got it, An. And don't forget to call us if anything goes wrong," paalala niya sa dalawa.

(Yezzir! Babye na at magbubukas na ulit ang LD.) paalam ni Narae.

When all of them were done bidding goodbye, Charles ended the call and rested his body against his chair.

"Excited?" He suddenly heard Wynter's voice.

Napalingon tuloy siya sa kaibigan. "To see Narae and Anurak? Yes."

Wynter, who was focusing her attention on her pocketbook, smirked. "You know what I'm pointing out—rather who I was talking about."

Charles let out a sigh. There's no point denying it. Besides, she accepts me for her brother now. "Yeah. I'm looking forward to seeing him."

"Kahit na ilang araw na kayong magkausap?"

Natigilan naman si Charles sa tanong ng dalaga. "Y-You knew?"

Nag-angat ito ng tingin sa kanya. "Autumn told me."

"And?"

"And what?"

"And what's your say? Any violent reaction? Questions?"

Bumalik si Wyn sa pagbabasa. "None at the moment. Can't think of anything right now."

Doon lang napansin ni Charles na tumigil pala siya sa paghinga. When he's finally done catching his breath, he remembered something. "About your acads."

Wynter's eyes were still on her book. "Hmm?"

"You're close to graduating," may pag-aalangang paalala niya sa kaibigan.

The lady let out a chuckle. "Worried about the wedding?"

Natawa na lang din siya. "Yeah. No offense, but I don't wanna marry you."

Wynter couldn't help but roll her eyes. "And neither do I. Ayokong matali at kilala mo 'ko, Dom. Kapag sinabi kong ayoko, ayoko. I'll do everything I can to make it stay that way. Nothing and no one could tie me down."

He felt relieved. "So I don't have to worry about the wedding kahit na malapit nang matapos ang usapan niyo ni Dad?"

Finally, Wyn looked at him. "Yeah. Just trust me and let me handle that part of our lives. Besides, my brother has feelings for you. Kahit pinakalimot na natin siya, mukhang naalala niya pa rin ang nararamdaman niya para sayo."

Charles smiled before resting his eyes and mind. Hindi niya maiwasang kiligin pero mas pinagtuunan niya ng atensyon ang mga naunang sinabi ng dalaga. Just trust her and everything will be okay... I can do that.

PAGKATAPOS NG ilang oras ay nakarating na sila sa Pilipinas. Naunang umalis ng airport ang team niya at nanatili muna sa isang hotel na binook ni Kathleya, habang sila naman ni Wynter ay dumiretso sa bahay nito.

"May sarili nang kwarto roon si Gabby, and fortunately unfortunate for you, katabi lang 'yun ng pansamantala mong kwarto."

Pinigilan ni Charles na mapangiti, at nang mapatingin sa kanya si Wynter ay agad siyang tumikhim. "What?"

Wynter stared at him before she smirked. "Pinakadulo ang kwarto mo, ang katabing kwarto naman ni Kuya ay maid's quarter, but our maids are on vacation. Nasa first floor ang kwarto niyo ni Kuya at yung mga kwarto naman namin ay nasa second floor—"

"Hang on," agad na pigil ni Charles sa kaibigan. "Why are you telling me these?"

Binawi ni Wyn ang tingin nito sa kanya saka bumalik sa pagbabasa ng pocketbook, then she shrugged. "House tour."

Napailing naman si Charles. He knew the reason why, he just needed confirmation from his best friend. Babalik na sana siya sa pagtitig sa nasa labas ng kotse nang muling magsalita ang babae.

"At ipapaalala ko lang ulit sayo, babalik na tayo sa LD bukas at bawal ang milagro sa penthouse."

Charles couldn't help the smile that escaped his lips as he rolled his eyes. Yep, definitely the confirmation I needed for my assumption. Napailing na naman siya saka tumingin sa labas ng bintana.
