Sasuke found a cave to take shelter from the storm. He truly hated traveling in such weather, but he knew that Itachi did too. He had little doubt that Itachi's team would be hunkered down somewhere to take shelter as well. Soon he would find them, and vengeance would at long last be his. His brother would pay for every wrong that he had ever committed against him. The younger Uchiha smirked at the thought.
It did not take long for the smirk to fade. He could not forget that Sakura was surely still with him and this very moment probably curled in his arms. Was it not enough for Itachi to rob him of the life within his clan that he was destined to live? No, apparently it was not. The bastard just had to take Sakura too.
When he first learned of their association, he like Naruto, had wanted to believe that she was forced to be at his side. Akatsuki wanted the nine tails after all, perhaps she was an unwilling hostage. Her arrival to aide them using his kunai had proven that theory wrong. He had hoped then that maybe the sharingan was to blame, but he was a genjutsu master. He knew when he looked into her eyes that was not the case.
She had changed that much was sure. She was unreadable and cold. She was nothing like the woman Sasuke knew her to be. Itachi had done that, of that he was sure. What did that bastard put her through? Whatever it was, very soon, Sasuke would make him regret ever laying a finger on her.
Sakura was his plain and simple. She had promised as much years ago. She declared her love and swore herself to him. He would just make sure that she remembered that promise. Had she somehow forgotten that he always meant to return for her? Was she so foolish as to think that he would not hold her to her word?
When this was over if he had to, he would drag her kicking and screaming. He was certain that given just a little time she would come back around. Either way he would just fix it later if he had to. For now, all he could think of was how fulfilling it would be to finally rip out Itachi's heart with his bare hands.
