Chapter 29

Aqua's P. O. V:

I sit on my window seat while reading Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas.

It's been a whole year since the incident with the Mandarin. Cap and I broke up about three weeks ago and I'm still reeling from it. My family and friends have been there to support me, and even Tony has, too.

When word of our breakup reached the media, it all went absolutely nuts. It was also trending at No. 1 on Twitter.

I'd competed in this year's Equestrian Olympics in Melbourne and came first in Dressage, Showjumping and cross country, and I'd taken home first place.

Cap had come with me to this year's Olympics but the other Avengers had just seen me on TV. When I got back, Tony insisted on celebrating with a huge party at his place.

I lean my head against the back of the window seat, my legs crossed over each other as I read. Just as I flip the next page in Chapter 7, my phone blasts with Love Story, nearly startling me.

I pick it up off my window sill and check to see Fury's name scrawled across the screen. Heaving a sigh of annoyance, I hit the call button and say into the phone, "What is it, Captain Eyepatch?"

"Get to the helicarrier, Rivers. I have a new assignment for you," Was all Fury says before hanging up.

I groan as I hang my head but bookmark my page with an Erza Scarlet  designed bookmark and get up to get dressed.

I change into a short sleeved silk red blouse with the collar folded down, my black leather pants and knee high combat boots. I slip in my black leather fingerless arm warmers and put on my unicorn jewellery necklace and earrings that has a pink mane, before I throw on my jacket and cloak before I pack my blue Chanel shoulder bag with all my essentials. Then I refill my water bottles before locking up the house.

Once I got in the car to take me to the quinjet, I text Bloom and Leo about animal sitting for me till I get back from my new mission.

Then I blast some The Veronicas after putting on my headphones for the rest of the drive.
