Aqua's P. O. V:

I step out onto the roof to see Nat kneeling over Eric by the device, still powering the portal.

I go over as Eric says, "Loki's sceptor... the energy... the Tesseract can fight. You can't... protect against yourselves..."

I crouch beside Nat as I say gently, "It's not your fault. You didn't know what you were doing."

"... Well, actually, I think I did," Says Eric, much to our confusion. "I built in a safety to cut the power source."

"Loki's sceptor..." I trail off.

"It may be able yo close the portal," Explains Eric. He looks down at the balcony below us as he adds, "And I'm looking right at it."

"I'll go get it," I say, straightening up. I head down the stairs to the balcony and go up to the sceptor. I pick it up off the ground but pause, getting a loser look at it. It was beautiful before, but up close, it's even more beautiful.

I turn and head back up to Nat and Eric

I turn and head back up to Nat and Eric. When I reach them, I hand the sceptor to the redhead. Since Thor was no longer blasting lightning at the portal, I cancel out the rainstorm, dispersing the clouds.

"Finally," Nat mutters, the three of us drenched in rain.

Eric pulls out a laptop as he tells her, "Right in the crow!"

Nat holds the staff before the blue force field and it sparks in protest. She breathes into the earpiece, "I can close it! Can anybody copy?! I can shut the portal down!"

Cap shouts back urgently, "Do it!"

"No, wait!" Tony cuts in.

"Stark, these things are still coming!"

"I gotta nuc coming in. It's gonna blow in less than a minute," Tony explains. He mutters after a moment of silence, voice thoughtful, "And I know just where to put it."

Cap tells him wearily, "Stark, you know that's a one way trip."

"Save the rest for return, Jay," Tony says to JARVIS.

Tony soars up along the roof of the tower, the nuclear bomb held to his back. Worry pounds in my heart as I watch him fly for the portal. Tony soon disappears through the portal, along with the bomb.

We were saved!!

All around us, down below, the Chitauri and leviathans collapse, probably because the bomb had exploded inside the portal by now.

My friends and I wait in anticipation for Tony to return.

"Come on, Stark," Nat breathes.

"Come on, Tony," I mutter, watching the sky for the brown haired man.

We wait another moment before Cap orders Nat, "Close it."

Fear clenches my heart as Nat pushes the sceptor the rest of the way in, and the portal closes.
