"Derek stop." Meredith giggled as Derek pressed his lips to Meredith's neck over and over. His body was hovering over hers as she started to pull her top up.

"Mer, come on, the kids won't be awake for a while and you know it's been a while since we..." Derek raised his eyebrows before pressing his lips to hers.

Derek removed the rest of her clothes until there was nothing between them. Just skin on skin. They took time exploring one another's body before Derek finally slipped into Meredith. They found a rhythm in which Meredith had to kiss and bite down on Derek's bottom lip to stop her from moaning too loud.

"Hmm, harder." Meredith whispered with a naughty glint in her eyes.

Derek picked up his pace, linking their hands together as they neared their climaxes.

"I'm going...oh I'm going to." Meredith moaned, squeezing Derek's hands as he lips came crashing down on hers. Derek was close to follow behind her as she tightened around him, pushing him over the edge before finally collapsing on top of Meredith.

Meredith ran her fingers up and down his back and then played with the loose curls at the base of his neck. Laying in each other's until they caught their breath back once again. Their blissful silence was interrupted when they heard a loud crash come from outside their room.

Both of them quickly sprung out of bed, throwing their robes on in the process before opening their bedroom door where they found Ellis collapsed on the floor.

"Mom!" Meredith was quick to join her side, feeling for a pulse. "Derek, phone an ambulance!" Meredith exclaimed, watching as Derek disappeared back into their room, grabbing his phone.

"Mom, come on wake up." Meredith pleaded, running her fingers through her hair. "Come on, just open your eyes for me." She choked back a sob, determined not to cry. Also, she took this time to really take in her mother's features, seeing how fragile she looked from the drastic weight loss. Ellis was basically disappearing in front of their eyes.

"The ambulance will be here shortly." Derek spoke up. "I'm going to get the kids up and take them to my moms and then I will join you at the hospital, alright?" Derek crouched down next to Meredith, running his hand up and down her back. "You should go and get changed. I'll stay with Ellis."

Meredith nodded her head and slowly stood up, not taking her eyes off Ellis until she disappeared behind their bedroom door. Derek watched as Ellis eyes started to flutter open, looking round the room scared and confused.

"Hey Ellis don't move alright. You had a fall, an ambulance is coming." Derek cupped Ellis' head in his hands. "You're going to be alright." In the distance the sound of sirens could be heard in the distance.

"Mer!" Derek shouted, watching as Meredith came running out of their room. "The ambulance is coming, stay with your mom and I will go and get the door." He waited for Meredith to take his position, listening as she whispered comforting words to Ellis.

Quickly, he ran into their room, throwing on a pair of tracksuit bottoms and one of his tops. Once he was dressed, he took of for the stairs and meeting the paramedics at the door.

"Hey Dr Shepherd." Ryan, one of the paramedics greeted him.

"Hey Ryan. It's my mother in law, Ellis, she took a fall. Obviously, we can't be too careful now a days with her cancer, you know how it is." Derek pointed them in the direction of the stairs and watched as the moved next to Ellis.

Meredith moved back, letting them do their job, as she wrapped her arms around herself. Not wanting to stand alone, Derek moved behind and wrapped his arms around her waist, kissing the side of her head.

"We need to take her in, get some scans. Is someone going to ride in the ambulance with her?" Ryan watched as Meredith nodded her head. "Right let's get going." They loaded Ellis put onto the stretcher before carrying her out of the house.

"Hey." Derek reached out and grabbed Meredith pulling her into his arms before she walked out the door. "It's going to be alright." He pulled back and cupped her cheeks in his hands. "I'm going to drop the kids off and I will be with you as soon as possible." He leaned and pressed his lips to hers, with a passionate force.

"I love you." Meredith pulled out of his arms and climbed into the back of the ambulance.

Derek watched as the ambulance drove off, sirens blaring and sighed to himself. Today had started out so perfect, they were in their own little bubble and that was burst very, very quickly.

His thoughts were soon disturbed as the cries of Willow echoed through the house and Oscar was shouting out for him. Today was going to be a very long day.
