Chapter 10

I spent the next day trying to figure out what to do against the stone giants. What could I do against it? Dominate doesn't work on objects, they have no life for me to dominate.

I looked at the news and my eyes widened in shock.

"S Rank Gate appears in Shinjuku, Japan."

I called the Japanese Hunter's Association in panic, "Guys! I'm returning to Japan! Please evacuate every person in the area."

"No need."

My eyes widened, why did he say that? Does he not need me?

"We have hired the best S Rank Support in the world, Yuri Orlov. We do not need your help." Matsumoto's voice sounded nervous, as if he didn't want me to find out something that was residing in Japan.

I went onto twitter and immediately saw my mentions flooded with questions regarding the S Rank gate, I thought for a while and tweeted something out:

"Well, the Japanese Hunter's Association rejected my help, I have something important to me to do. Yuri Orlov is more than qualified to seal the S Rank Gate, you want to ask why I'm not going, blame Matsumoto Shigeo."

I left to meet up with Jin Woo. There were three days before the gate opened anyways, if I finished early, I would go and protect the country with my life.

"So this is where it appeared."

I was at a ruined school. I heard that a Gate Break occurred here, killing most of the students, it was a horrible incident that resulted in the loss of life.

A gate was already there, it seemed that a party had just entered. The two of us walked up to the gate, the person at the entrance stopped us, until we revealed who we were.

"The people in there are going to die, let us in." Jin Woo said with a cold glint in his eyes.

"Even if you stop us, we can go in by force." I added, Jin Woo seemed in agreement, we entered the gate with nobody challenging us.

A C Rank subjugation team was already inside, trying to open the door to the carthenon temple. We walked up to them with no protective equipment.

"Who are you guys?"

Jin Woo showed his face while I appeared behind him with a serious expression on my face.

"S Rank Hunters Sung Jin Woo and Tanaka Mizuki?"

"Let us handle this, this is too dangerous for all of you, we predict this will be a challenge for both of us combined, if it is for us, you guys stand no chance." I said to them, Jin Woo added on to the sentence, "We are survivors of this dungeon, we started this, we'll see it to the end."

"Hold on, we purchased the rights to this gate, you can't just walk in here."

We ignored him and inserted both our keys into the door, and it opened.

"Be our guest, go in with us."

The one I assumed that was the leader walked up and volunteered to join, he entered and was greeted with one of the statues swinging its blade the moment he walked in, I dragged him out with the ability Ruler's Hands.

"There are about twenty of those, maybe more, and one a thousand times stronger than that, you sure you want to come?" I asked him, he swallowed his saliva and backed off, telling them a double dungeon had appeared, Jin Woo said to them.

"So...both sovereigns have arrived." The statue on the throne said, its wings spread out. Destroying the stone slab showing the three commandments of the carthenon temple.

"So those had no meaning, huh?" Jin Woo commented as it was broken into pieces its magical aura felt so strong, I found it hard to stand in its presence.

"Oh they had meaning, but that's unimportant now."

"Are you the one that called us here?" I asked the giant statue.

"Of course."

"Are you a monster?" Jin Woo asked.

"You're asking the wrong questions, instead of asking who 'I' am, you should be asking who 'you' are."

It raised its hands, the stone statues on the corners started to move, engaging both of us at once, it looked like the amount of statues had doubled, as if to test both of us.

"This shall be your final test, if you are left standing at the end of it, I will tell you everything."

"Come out." Jin Woo muttered, his shadows started forming, but then they stopped when the statue snapped its fingers.

"Come on now, this is a test, no cheating is allowed. I'm here to gauge your skills, not your soldiers, the Sovereign of White Flame's skills are of her own, so I shall permit their usage."

[Job Specific Skills have been limited, not only that, usage of the shop and some items in the inventory will be restricted]

Jin Woo leaped into the air, jumping from statue to statue. Outside of battle, we hardly ever interact, but inside of battle, we knew each other and could communicate without words, as if we have been allies for thousands of years.

Each of the knights seemed on par with us, this would be difficult.

I swung my scythe through the empty air over and over, trying to disrupt the movements of the knights to support Jin Woo. When one of them lost their balance, Jin Woo would jump in and destroy them with his strength.

"For you to progress this far with a human body...how commendable."

he stood up from his throne, I felt fear for the first time after the Jeju Island raid.

"Now then, it's time to worship God."

The statue occasionally fired lasers from its eyes, it was my job to use "Ruler's Hands" to create shields out of the stone knights to protect him.

We came to the same conclusion, that we had to take care of the statue in the middle first.

We jumped up to the statue, it fired a laser at Jin Woo, but he used Ruler's Authority to drag himself onto the shoulder of the statue.

[Mutilate]

Countless scratches appeared on the face of the statue, though the attack was impressive, it was just that, scratches.

I jumped to his side, charging up another wave of lighting, but it knocked the scythe out of my hand with an unseen force.

My shirt's sleeves broke as I punched the statue with all my strength, reinforced by Ruler's Hands. There was a clash of purple and golden light on the shoulder of the statue, but it ended with the statue falling to the ground.

The remaining statue tried to charge us, but Jin Woo crushed all of them to the ground with Ruler's Authority.

"You better keep your promise." Jin Woo's voice said to the remaining angel statue.

"Your test isn't over yet. You see? I'm still here."

[10 Minutes 0 Seconds remaining]

"Who are you?" Jin Woo asked the statue, in front of both of us, the system appeared.

[I TOLD YOU THAT WAS A SILLY QUESTION]

[I WILL TELL YOU WHO I AM]

[I AM THE ARCHITECT OF THE SYSTEM]

[ARE YOU SATISFIED WITH THE ANSWER?]
