Chapter 16

"I'm going to take time off for a while." I declared online, in every single way I could talk to the world. I've been nonstop doing work as a hunter for about a year now, and I needed a break, I am not an actual National Level Hunter, only one in name. I'm still an individual inside of Korea, all other National Level Hunters had authority rivalling that of a Nation, hence the name.

I haven't protected a Nation yet, though I had the power to. After a few uneventful days, I opened the news and two headlines made me nearly spit out the coffee.

"S Rank Hunter, Sung Jin Woo pummels National Level Hunter Thomas Andre and the Scavenger Guild single handedly."

"National Level Hunter, Christopher Reid, murdered."

This confirmed my suspicions, I really am not the strongest in Asia, its Jin Woo, he's been consistently higher level than me, even after a while, our level difference is still there, even though it is now less than it was when we first met.

Secondly, how can a National Level Hunter get murdered? They were at the apex of human capabilities, these people who killed him were on another level, Jin Woo might even have trouble against them.

I then noticed something, silence, the TV isn't making any sound.

There was no sound, Kyoko and Mom aren't here either.

There is something going on here.

Instinctively, I kneeled down, a large hand punched through the air where I was before, cutting off my hair at the edges. Blades made of bone from it cut my face a little, drawing blood, I jumped back, my scythe appearing in my hand.

"Who the hell are you?" I asked the thing that attacked me, it was a large, muscular man with long black hair, with blades of bone all over his body.

"Sovereign, I'm afraid you have to die, you have been helping humans for far too long." The man's voice rumbled, it charged once more. White flames erupted from all around me, the man jumped back to avoid getting burned.

This was all my strength, I doubt Liu Zhigang could have survived this, this would make even Jin Woo break a sweat. This man looked unimpressed, this is power that belongs to the strongest Japanese hunter, and second in Asia.

I entered my stance, he jumped from the floor to the walls, zipping from wall to wall. He was so fast I couldn't follow his movements from my eyes alone, I could feel his magical energy moving though.

I didn't bother speaking out the names of the forms I was going to use, this opponent had no honor as a fighter, I entered into Tranquility, meeting every attack he threw with the hilt of my scythe, white flames reinforcing the hilt, making it not break from the pressure that this monster emitted.

This enemy was stronger than any other I've fought, beads of sweat were forming on my face, the Architect was strong, but this was on another level, I felt the fear of death before on two occasions, the first time in the Cathenon Temple, and when I first fought the Ant King.

Red claw marks appeared on my back and chest, I already knew I was going to lose, but I have to at least bring him down with me. Every single time I swung my scythe in his direction, he disappeared and another cut would appear on my body.

"Give up." The man demanded as he leapt from behind, I prepared to block it but he ripped the scythe right out of my hands and kicked me square in the stomach, I spat out blood, it hurt, hurt so badly I can't describe how much it hurt.

There was a sort of barrier around the house, I had to break it to let Jin Woo know what was happening. Health was already dropping to below 2000, I can't beat this guy, he's too strong.

I stood up, leaning on my scythe, I cloaked myself in white flames once more, blasting the walls of the room with all my remaining strength. The barrier broke, the sunlight beamed through the window, as if on cue, a black ant appeared from my shadow, a dark aura erupted between the man and I, Jin Woo appearing between us.

"Who the hell are you?" Jin Woo asked the beast, I thought it wouldn't answer, and just charge, but to my surprise, it did.

"I am the Sovereign of Beastly Fangs, the King of Beasts, that is who I am." The man replied, he didn't have a name, it seems. Jin Woo drew his dual daggers, the Sovereign of Beastly Fangs backed up, as if he was afraid of Jin Woo's purple aura, I knelt down and recalled my scythe through Ruler's Hands, I can't fight this enemy, my vision was already blurry, but I wanted to watch this battle to the end.

Jin Woo didn't look human, he was a black blur, jumping and slowly chipping away at the Sovereign of Beastly Fang's defenses. I was stomped by this enemy yet Jin Woo could not only hold his own, but also slowly overwhelm him.

"Aren't you here to save your other Sovereign?" The opposing Sovereign asked Jin Woo, he launched one of the bones that was attached to his body towards me, I tried moving it aside with Ruler's Hands, but the golden light was dissipated right when it touched the projectile.

I closed my eyes, preparing to die, but Jin Woo leapt back and blocked the attack with his dagger right before it hit. The Sovereign of Beastly Fangs backed up into a gate that appeared behind him. Jin Woo threw a dagger, it dug into the skin of the large man, but he only laughed when it hit.

"Two Sovereigns that oppose our goal from birth, be prepared for deaths that will be more painful than anything you both have ever felt!"

I tried standing up, but I couldn't no matter how much I tried, it felt as if there were fifty iron ball chains were tied to each of my legs.

"Sleep, Mizuki. You deserve it."

I laid down, I wasn't in much pain anymore, but I was so tired, right when my head touched the ground, my eyes closed and drifted into a dark, dreamless sleep. This would be one of the more peaceful moments that would occur in the near future, I learned.

Aaaaa Chapter 16 done! This was kind of rushed, but I probably will edit it a little in the future. Also by they way, this will be progressing past the webtoon and I will write into the light novel stuff, I will put a spoiler warning when I go into Light Novel.
