My name is Tanaka Mizuki, 18 years old. Japanese, and currently residing in Korea pursuing music, when I was 16, I wanted to be a scientist, but when I grew up I just knew I couldn't make it in the field if science, so I turned to music. I don't know why I chose Korea exactly, I just felt suffocated in Japan, not many people there have acknowledged my ability.Today is my debut, performing in a park near my home, not many people were coming, but an audience of 20 people starting out was amazing for me, I took my guitar case and left the house.
The audience of twenty was already there when I arrived, a tall, black haired man and his group of friends were what caught my attention, though I never went up to him, I'll do that after my performance, if he stays.
My heart beat so hard it felt like it was going to fly straight out of my chest. I knelt down, unzipped the guitar case and started playing, the soft, mellow tune that I always loved.
I called this song: "Let the Mind of Tranquility Rest."
I don't know what triggered my inspiration for this song, my guess was that it was from an old dream of mine as a child, it did have a similar feeling to what I would like as a kid.
After I finished the opening part of the song, I prepared to start singing, though it was scary, I forced myself to sing, this was what I wanted, this is my debut performance, I will not mess this up.
This song spoke of a lone girl, weak, frail and everything of that nature, until she came across a hope of being strong, free from her weakness, a deal was made with the devil to make her dream come true.
Then a character, who I names the 'Shadow Sovereign' came and helped her out of the deal that she had, though she ended up weak again, she was thankful, finally she had someone that she could look up to.
I felt...amazing, I don't know how to describe this feeling. I'm scared, scared that I mess up, yet I pressed forward and kept singing, there felt as if there was some sort of force driving me to continue singing, to bring my voice to this small audience.
"And to you, O Shadow Sovereign, I thank you."
As I sang the final line of the song, I felt a change in the air, the tall man I was eyeing earlier looked at me even more intently, as if he were looking directly into my soul.
"umm...thank you everyone, for coming to my debut." I nervously said into the mic as I stepped down from the stage, I heard a few footsteps behind me, it was the man I was looking at and who seemed to be his wife.
"Hello, Tanaka Mizuki, my name is Sung Jin Woo, that song was truly amazing, it definitely shook me to the core. I have one question though, who was this inspiration for the Shadow Sovereign character? They seem like they had a lot of thought put into their writing." Jin Woo asked me, I knew the answer to the question, of course, I was the one that wrote this song.
"The inspiration behind the Shadow Sovereign was actually from a book I read two years ago, it was called "The Brightest Star, Born from Shadows.", I do recommend reading it, it changed my view on a lot of things." I replied immediately, Jin Woo nodded, he seemed content with that answer, I knew it seemed silly to put an idea from a children's book, but that book really meant a lot to me, the character writing and everything about it was amazing.
"I'm already a fan, I think my wife is, to, right? Hae In?" Jin Woo turned to the shorter woman beside him, who nodded, they really are a nice couple, huh. I need to burn this image into my mind, they seemed like the perfect couple, an idea for a song already appeared in my mind.
"We hope the best for your future performances, Mizuki." Hae In encouraged, I thanked her and turned, having to leave, as there was going to be another musician appearing on this stage soon.
As the years went by, my fanbase grew larger and larger, at 19, my first album sold a ten thousand copies, at 20, it rose to fifty thousand.
And every time, at every single live performance I had, the front seat were always the same two people, Jin Woo and his wife, Hae In.
I am perfectly content with my life now, I'm happy, the rest of my family back in Japan are happy, and of course, making people smile is the greatest pleasure I could ever have.
I looked at my computer, and put on some headphones:
"Let's get to composing, shall we?"
