The End

The army of the heavens came in to announce the end of the war between Sovereigns and Rulers, ironic that the former Demon King and a former Ruler would team up and end the war together, the unity between Baran and Ashborn was what ultimately decided the outcome of the battle.

Though it was a victory for the Rulers, the army of destruction left its mark on Earth, Canada was completely laid to waste, thirty million lives left the world today, millions of innocent lives were stolen by this horrible war. From the first gate, to Kamish taking 300 million American lives, and this final battle that stole 30 million Canadian lives, not counting the smaller A Rank gates that broke to inject magical energy into this world.

"Thank you for ending our war, I don't know how to express our gratitude..."

I wordlessly stared at the Ruler, all the wounds I previously had, even on my spiritual body, where I thought damage was permanent, was healed. Jin Woo requested only one thing from the Rulers.

"Could you use the Chalice of Rebirth again?"

The Ruler seemed confused, why would he turn back time? Why would he request for the best outcome to be overwritten? The answer was simple, I know how he thinks. I've been by his side for so long, he's thinking of making a better one, to make sure no lives will be lost, he will go between the gap between dimensions and kill the Sovereigns before they even come to Earth.

"I have a request too, Ruler, could you perhaps...erase the memories I have of this timeline? I want to live a normal life, if this power could be transferred to me, it can also be transferred to Jin Woo, yes?"

The Ruler nodded, I wasn't meant to exist as a hunter in the first place, I want to see how that reality looks like, I don't want to fight to protect my country anymore, we have a hero to do that, Jin Woo is the strongest person I know, the strongest hunter in history, the only one that could defeat Thomas Andre in a stomp, and the only one human that could defeat me.

A great light erupted from the Ruler, and it enveloped Jin Woo and I, turning back time all around not only the Earth, but the whole universe as we know it.

My name is Tanaka Mizuki, 14 years old. The graduation test for junior high school has just finished. I want to study the most recent mystery that happened in the world. I applied into the best high school in Japan, to eventually join the University of Gate Study in Korea, to got here, I need to be at the top of Japan in terms of science, but I will do it, the incident was such a mystery that even the greatest minds in the world can't figure out what it is, or even the cause.

It is dubbed the "Gate"

It happened 8 years ago, a weird blue portal appeared right in the middle of Korea, waves of unidentified energy was spread all over the world, after that event, I kept having dreams, dreams of a hellish future that never came, I've been told they were simply that, dreams, but they aren't just dreams, I know it is true.

The answer is in Korea, I know it is.

It's already at the end of the year anyways, my family is going for a trip to Korea, I requested this, of course, the gate incident that happened there after all, nobody objected, Kyoko always liked Korea, not because of the same reasons I do, she just likes it for some reason, my father and mother are fine with anywhere, so it was easy to get them to go to a country right next to us.

The plane took off, I didn't bother looking out the window or anything, for some reason, I feel like I've seen this scenery before, Jeju Island seemed especially similar, in the hellish dreams I had, Jeju Island was overrun by monster ants, and was abandoned by Korea, not only that, Shinjuku was the site of another cataclysmic event, giant monsters came out of a portal and started destroying everything, the destruction nearly spreading to the entirety of Japan until it was eventually stopped by something that I didn't know.

When we arrived in Korea, for some reason, I felt like reporters would pop out of nowhere, like in those dreams I had, in this 'other world', as I called it, I was some sort of celebrity? I don't know.

Not only did I feel like the answer to the gate was here in Korea, the answer to the 'other world' is here too, I felt like I should be searching for a dark haired man with purple eyes, I know his face, but not his name.

I walked into the University of Gate Study, I signed up to look at what they do here, charts of the energy the gate emitted was shown, it seems that the earth itself is harder by about 2% since the gate erupted, people near the gate's eruption seemed to have strange effects since, nothing extraordinary, but their muscle density increased by 5% since.

Videos of the eruption was playing in a loop in one corner, thermal cameras were shown too, it seemed to be either extremely hot at some places, and extremely cold at some, strange.

"Could you please erase my memories of this timeline?"

"I'm sorry for Goto Ryuji's passing."

"I'll shred a path to my happy ending, nothing can stand in my way."

"Weakest S Rank in the world, Tanaka Mizuki, 16 years old, at your service."

Voices were playing in my head, over and over. I said these, yet I haven't, why is it?

"You still remember, I thought you wanted to forget." I heard a voice behind me say, it was the face from my memories, though younger, it is definitely the same face.

"It's you...who are you? What is this 'other world'?" I asked the person in my dreams, he seemed powerful, more powerful than any human in the world.

"My name is Sung Jin Woo...about this other world though...." Sung Jin Woo trailed off, his hand had some dull blue glow to it, right in my mind I heard.

"You don't want to know, I'll get rid of those memories myself, you deserve a happy ending."

My eyes felt heavy, until I eventually had them close, memories of the other world slipping away from my grasp, in a way, I was happy, but I would be losing precious memories that I had there, I had fun times with a blonde haired girl, and of course, watching the stars with Jin Woo, I'm not going to meet you in this world, I would lose these precious memories, but to the person I was before this world was created, thank you, thank you for letting me have a happy ending, I don't know where you are, or who you are, you might be a completely different person from me, but from the bottom of my heart.
