Phil looked behind him and saw Ranboo collapsed on the ground.
Phil looked at the edge of the forest, so close.
A few more steps and he would be free. He stared at freedom, just a few steps away.
He could escape now. He could run. But he'd never forgive himself if he abandoned the boy alone in the forest, at the mercy of this wraith.
He wheeled Cloud around and galloped towards Ranboo. He twisted down in the saddle and grabbed the enderman, pulling him up into the saddle.
Shadows collected together, and the wraith appeared, white eyed glowing.
The wraith shrieked and charged forwards, smoky hands outstretched.
Phil cradled Ranboo against his chest, wings spreading to keep the wraith from the boy in his arms.
The wraiths claws scraped across his long feathers. Phil winced as one was torn from its spot, sending waves of pulsing pain through his wings.
Cloud turned and sprinted towards the edge of the forest, a cliff overlooking a river. The wraith screeched.
It closed the distance in a matter of seconds, and large, clawed hands reached out. The creature lunged, claws brushing Phil's hat.
Cloud reached the cliff and leaped. The smoky hand scraped across the grey horse's hindquarters.

They sailed over the cliff and fell into the water. Bubbles stormed around them.
Phil grabbed Ranboo and dragged him onto the shore. Steam hissed off of the enderman, leaving pale markings, much like the tear-like marks on his cheeks.
Scars, Phil realized. Those were tear scars. Water burned Ranboo,
like normal endermen.
Ranboo coughed and curled into a ball. Phil looked around as Cloud staggered out of the water and stood nearby.
The horse's hindquarters were bleeding. Phil struggled to his feet, leaning against Cloud, and pressed a cloth against the cuts.
He looked around. It was just starting to get light. Ranboo lay exhausted, whimpering softly.
"I'm so sorry, Ranboo." Phil said quietly.
Ranboo moaned.
Phil sat next to Ranboo, draping his new green cloak, the one Herobrine. had given him, over Ranboo, trying to dry him off.
Ranboo mumbled something. Phil leaned back as Cloud whuffed.
He looked up the ravine. The wraith screeched and vanished in a swirl of darkness. At least they didn't have to deal with that anymore.

Ranboo was badly injured. He hadn't been in the water for long, but the burns were red and green with strange two-toned blood.
Phil did what he could to help him, but he was no healer. He couldn't work magic.
"What a group we are, eh?" Phil said to Cloud. "One of us can't walk, the other is badly burned, and the third is a horse."
Cloud snorted and knelt beside Philza.
"You know where we can go?" Phil asked.
The horse just snorted again.
"Well, last time I trusted an animal, it turned out to be my old friend...and he saved my life. So why not?"
He lifted Ranboo onto Cloud, pulling himself up after. He cradled Ranboo carefully, trying not to hurt the boy. Then he gave the grey horse his head.
Cloud started walking....and Phil could do nothing but wait.

They walked for hours.
The horse plodded on, seemingly untouched by the glaring sun. Phil draped his wings over Ranboo to shield him from the light, hoping his hat was enough to spare him from sunburns.
Ranboo didn't wake up.
It seemed like the boy was sick, so Phil did what he could to make him comfortable. Which wasn't much, seeming as they were on a horse, but he did his best.
They passed through plains and started towards a desert. Phil pulled on the reins. "We can't go into a desert. It's one of the most dangerous places."
Cloud snorted and whuffed, starting forwards again.
"A jungle would be better than a desert." Phil protested.
Cloud didn't stop.
"Fine, you can go, but Ranboo and I are staying here. I'm sure I can find a village nearby."
Cloud started trotting.
"What are you doing?" Phil yelped, yanking the reins back.
Cloud ignored it and burst into a gallop, carrying his two passengers into the desert.
