It was afternoon, and the day wasn't too bad. The sun had lightened up the whole of London and people looked livelier than usual. Charlotte had called me in the morning, asking me to go to her house. I didn't want to go, because I would have to have a face-off with my mum. But since Charlotte insisted I decided on going. Nathan was in the studio and I wasn't going to tell him that I was going because he's probably just stop me from going and throw a big tantrum. But he never ever gave me a clear reason to his awkward behavior.
I messaged Charlotte telling her that I will be there in half an hour. She sent me back a happy text, thanking me for going there. I got my car keys and my purse and headed out. As soon I reached the place, my mood immediately started changing. I was very angry with my mum. She had no right to feed off Nathan. That wasn't the reason why I changed her. It's like she's using her powers for granted. I lightly knocked on the door and waited for a response. Soon enough, my mother was standing at the doorstep with a smile, thinking I would return it. I just barged past her and walked into Charlotte's room.
To be honest, Charlotte looked perfect until she saw me. And then she started pretended that she was so sick. What an attention seeker, I thought to myself.
"How are you?" I asked her.
"I'm alright! A little better. But I feel so tired." She said. She did not look tired when she didn't notice me.
"Yeah you will get better soon." I fake smiled, trying to be a comforting big sister. She fell for it well. Immediately my mother walked in.
"Evelyn. Can I talk to you for a few minutes" She asked.
"No!" I replied bluntly.
"It will only be a few minutes! Please let me just talk to you." She begged.
"Right now mother, you are the last person I want to talk to!" I growled.
"Ev. Go! Mum's really got something to say." Charlotte spoke in between. I sighed deeply and got out of the room. I got into the room next door and my mother followed quietly.
"What is it? Make it quick. I need to go back home." I said rudely.
"I know you think I'm a terrible person, and you don't care about me anymore. But I swear Evelyn, I didn't touch your boyfriend intentionally. It just happened! I swear, it was like a bad feeling inside of me and I bit him." She explained.
"Just bit him? Didn't you get to drink his blood as well you liar? You almost drained him off everything! He could've died!!" I exclaimed.
"I know Eve. And I didn't mean to do that. You know that I love Nathan too, and I can't wait till you both get married and he is officially family." She said. "I'm so sorry dear. I really didn't mean to." She looked down to the ground.
There was something true about what she was saying. I could see the guilt evident in her eyes. I decided I would forgive her once. She was my mother after all.
"Don't go close to Nathan ever again!" I warned.
"I'm sorry!" She apologized again.
"It's alright. Just don't hurt Nathan!" I said and she seemed happy. I gave her a small smile and walked out of the room.
I hugged Char goodbye and left for home. I got home pretty quickly. I turned around to the lock the door before I got startled by someone.
"Where have you been?" Nathan asked.
"Oh. Charlotte... erm.. She asked me to visit her." I explained. I didn't want to lie to him.
"So you went alone?? Why couldn't you tell me and go?? I would have come with you." He replied
"You see, that wasn't necessary because I'm a big girl and I don't need you accompanying me every where I go!" I exclaimed.
"Oh really??" He asked angrily.
"YES Nathan! Omg, you literally follow me everywhere! I'm old enough to take care of myself Nathan! You should start giving me my space!"
"Yeah, your life could be in danger ok? I'm just watching out for you!"
"Oh! I see! Then why don't you accompany me to the toilet as well? Who knows? I could get kidnapped in there." I said sarcastically.
"Oh you think this is funny now?" He asked. Nathan was really angry.
"Look Nath! All I'm asking for is space. I'm not asking you to give me a million dollars!"
"Your life really is in danger!!! Why can't you see it? Your mother almost tried to kill me! She could do the same to you too!" He shouted
"My mother apologized for what she did! She's a new hybrid and probably doesn't know how to control herself yet! Stop blaming her for that." I said. Immediately his face dropped. He looked so upset and disappointed. "Nath.. I'm sorry! I'm not blaming you either! Just forgive her ok?" I spoke getting closer to him. He took a step back and then shook his head slightly. After that he just walked away. I mentally cursed myself for being so mean to him when he was just trying to take care of me.
I went into the room and he was just lying on the bed staring at the ceiling.
"Nath.." I began but I was cut off.
"Leave me alone Eve." He said coldly.
I kneeled down beside him and took his hand in mine. He tried pulling it away but I had a firm grip on it.
"I am sorry. I know what I said and did was wrong. And I know you only do this because you care about me, and I'm sorry if I hurt you. Please forgive my mother for me! Please Nath." I begged. He pulled his hand out of mine and turned to the other side without saying a word. He was really angry and it was evident in his actions.
"Don't be mad at me." I said softly, almost in a whisper. He turned around and looked at me. I was almost about to cry, but I knew this was all my fault.
He moved a little inside and patted the bed space for me to lie on. I did as he said and lied down. I was lying on my side, facing him.
"She didn't mean to drink you Nathan! I promise! You can take my word for it." I explained.
He just stared at me blankly. After a little while, he spoke again. Luckily!
"She's brainwashed you!" He whispered.
"She's my mother and I know her! I know you feel this way because she hurt you. And I'm not blaming you for that. But just forgive her this once. She really didn't mean to cause you any harm."
"Ok." He said and looked towards the ceiling again. I knew he was still angry. I leaned forward and left a kiss on his cheek. He didn't show any response and I got up and left the room. He wanted to think alone, and I was ready to let him have his space.
