My eyes fluttered open to the sight of a blurred room. I opened it wider to focus and realized that I was in a hospital. I could barely remember all the things that happened last night. It was like my memory was washed out. I tried to move around and realized that my hand was gripped by someone. I looked to my side to see Nathan sleeping on his chair, still not letting go off my hand. I slowly tried to slide it out, to not wake him up. But he did wake up. His face brightened as he saw me. He looked like he had been crying as his eyes were puffy and red.

"Go back to sleep babe." I spoke softly. My voice was cracking and I could barely speak.

"I was so scared." He started crying again. I couldn't see him like that.

"Nath.. Get me out of here please." I begged.

"But you need to be here. You're not well." He replied.

"I'm fine. Nathan please." I croaked

"NO! EVE You're staying here!!" He shouted. "I'm going to call the doctor!" He announced as he walked outside. I hated the hospital and being in it. It made me feel more sick. I couldn't help but imagine being at home, feeling more safe than in this place.

The doctor came in shortly and ran a few tests on me. Yet again. He poked a few needles in and out of my body, but I couldn't feel anything.

"Mr Sykes, We need to talk." said the doctor, and guided Nathan outside. I wanted to hear what he had to say as well. But I couldn't because of they were outside. Shortly, Nathan walked in looking a little happier than he was. He sat next to me and left a lingering kiss on my forehead.

"You can leave tonight." He smiled. I was extremely happy when he said that. But I still wanted to know what the doctor told him.

"What did the doctor say?" I asked, curiously.

"Nothing babe. Just that you're alright, and that you can leave." He said awkwardly. I knew he was lying.

"You're lying." I whispered, turning to look at the ceiling. I hated when Nathan hid the truth from me. I had the right to know about my own health.

"It really was nothing Eve." He said. Suddenly the nurse came in to help me get changed. Nathan had to walk out because of that. The nurse helped me sit up and then slowly started helping me into my other clothes.

"How are you feeling?" She asked.

"Good. Almost like nothing happened." I told her.

"That's good." She smiled.

"Do you know what happened to me?" I asked her.

"We ran a lot of tests, and you looked miserable. But your body didn't seem to have anything bad going on in it. Even your baby is perfectly fine. It is a very strange case." She said.

"oh.."

"Well you're fine now. So that's good." She smiled when everything was done. "Take care of yourself." She said as she led me outside. Nathan was waiting there patiently and signing a few papers for me. I walked up to him and he smiled as he saw me. He grabbed my hand and walked us to the car. The sky looked like it was almost dawn. I wondered about how many hours Nathan had stayed awake for me. The things that I make him do sometimes were crazy, I can't believe he would still stay by my side to make sure that everything is ok.

We reached home, and he hadn't let go off my hand ever since. It was nice how caring he was.

"I'm going to take a shower. You should get some sleep." I told him.

"I know. But I'll wait for you. Don't be too long." He kissed my cheek and I walked to grab some clothes. I then got into the shower and soaked myself in the warm, comforting water. I could forget about how terrifying my world was turning at that point. But I didn't want to keep Nathan waiting, so I only had a short and clean shower.

I walked outside to see Nathan lying on the bed, his hand behind his head. He was staring at the ceiling in deep thoughts. He hadn't even noticed me standing at the door. I slowly climbed into bed and wrapped my arms around his torso. I rested my head against his chest as he rubbed my back soothingly.

"Go to sleep Nath." I kissed him softly on the lips.

"Night." He said as he turned the lights out on the room, and then wrapped his arms tightly around me. I felt safe again.. but for how long?

--

The next morning, or evening I should say, I woke up to the other half of my bed being empty. It didn't feel nice waking up alone. I wondered where Nathan was and got up slowly. My head was spinning around and my felt very uneasy again. I stood up slowly and walked to the bathroom to get my teeth and face cleaned. I then walked to the front room to see Nathan looking all tense and staring out of the window. He saw me and smiled.

"Morning babe." He said as he placed a deep kiss on my lips.

"Are you alright?" I asked him.

"Yes." He lied, I could tell he was lying.

"Nathan, please talk to me." I pleaded.

"I swear, there's nothing wrong." He kissed me again.

"ok." I said as walked into the kitchen. I got out some food, to see Nathan looking all weak on the couch.

"Nathan..?" I asked worried.

"Don't come here.." He croaked from where he was sat.

I left my food on the counter and quickly walked to him.

"Eve don't!" He said, pain evident in his voice. I didn't listen to anything he was saying.

I turned his neck around to see blood flowing out of it. There were teeth marks, almost like somebody just fed off Nathan. But that quick?

"Who did this?" I asked, almost about to cry.

And suddenly, I felt myself being hit harshly on the head.
