We all ran down the halls and opened random doors till we found stairs. It was a long hallway so we had to move fast before the wood gave out. I ran opening and closing doors as fast as I could till I found a room worth going in to.
Me: Hey guys, check this out.
The room was filled with screens and wires. There were guns on the walls and buttons with our names written on tape above each button. I had one idea of what this room was. The control room.
As I walked in the room chills ran up my spine. Everyone followed in. I looked around the cold dirty room and something caught my eye. There was a thick book laying on his desk. I walked over there with caution in my every step. I was afraid a trap would pop up and kill me. I was really paranoid.
The book was leather and it read "Records of Students" on the front. I opened the book. There were names going down in a list and a picture next to each name. There were big fat red letters that read "DEAD" over the picture and names. I turned and saw the same thing but with different people. I kept going and going and going till I saw my name. I didn't have anything over my name and picture, neither did the rest of the people here. I had passed threw 23 pages with red words on them... 23 people were dead. I closed the book and my heart sunk. He had killed 23 people.
Me: We have to keep going.
Even: She's right. We need to get out of here before Carson gets to us.
As we all left the room, something had caught my eye. A phone. I ran over and picked it up off the hook. My instincts were to call home. I dialed the numbers and listened to the ringing. Someone picked up. "Hello" a voice said that I recognized to be my mother's.
Me: Mom?
Mom: Lea? Is that you?
Me: Yeah.
Mom: Oh my god! Where are you! You've been missing and no one can find you.
She started to cry.
Me: I'm going to get out mom, don't worry.
Mom: Lea, what are you talking about, where ar-
The phone went dead.
Me: MOM!? MOM!?
No answer. Tears formed in my eye's but I fought them back. I couldn't cry at a time like this. Footsteps approached the door.
Evan: Come on Lea! Eric found the way off this floor.
I followed Evan to a rusty medal door and we walked in. The lights were flicking on and off but I could see just fine. I literally ran down the stairs to catch up with the others.
When we reached the next floor, it was the same. Gross, ugly, and nasty. My instinct was to break a board off the window and put it in the door and that's what I did.
We heard a large crash up stairs. Carson. We ran down the halls and did are usual checking rooms thing but the hallway and doors seemed to go on and on forever. A cracking and snapping noise came from down the hall. Carson. Shit.
James: I found the door! Hurry!
We all ran over to the door and made our way quickly down the stairs. I ran faster then I think I ever have in my life. We heard police sirens ahead. They found us!
We had made our way to the last floor. My heart and feet hurt. I was so scared and so happy at the same time. I felt like I was going to explode! Eric found two big medal doors, the entrance. He quickly pulled them open and we could all see the sky. It was beautiful. The cops lined the outside gate around the building. They had broken the chains off the gate and made our way over to us. We ran right for them. I was free. An arm wrapped around my wrist and pulled me back. The other hand put a gun to my head. Carson wasn't giving up. I screamed. Carson smacked my head hard. Everyone turned to look at me.
Carson: If you do anything, I shoot!
He shouted so everyone could hear him. The cops had guns on him.
Carson: Drop your weapons and I won't shoot!
No one moved.
Carson: Do it! I've killed others and I'm not afraid to kill her!
They lowered their weapons. Was he going to kill me? No! It can't end like this! I've made it so far!
Carson: Now, I want a car ready for me and I'll leave with her!
No! No! No! It can't end like this! I found my way out! I did everything! It's just not fair!
Then Blood splattered all over me as a bullets pierced Carson's body. I screamed and fell back. I looked up and saw a man with a gun on the roof.
Cops ran over to me and took me to the ambulance. Even tho I had made it out, I cried. I cried like I had never before cried but why? It was over. Carson is dead. I made it threw.
