"Mom we're heading out"

Emma called out as we all stroll down the staircase and towards the main door. We're all dressed in sweats in order to hide our outfits, the first step to our, or well, Emma's  elaborate plan.

"At this time of the night? Where to?" Emma's mom answered, appearing at the door of a dimly lit room of the hall leading to the staircase, where she had been doing her nightly yoga.

"Well we have this major opening term exam tomorrow so Allison's taking us  to the library she used to go to back when she was in highschool" Emma explains with no nervousness what so ever. It always surprises me when Emma is able to lie her way into situations so easily.

I shuffled my feet nervously, still not feeling too good about this sneaking out idea, it's reminding me way too much about my past.

"Yes ma'am it's the one down tellman  street, it's really close to the school" Allison added smoothly, but not as smoothly as Emma did. Teresa and I stood behind them in silence, as Emma's mom scrutinized us carefully, probably suspecting whether or not we were telling the truth.

"Hmm well if it's an exam then that's okay. You girls be careful okay? Emma you have your pepper spray and the police on speed dial right?" She asks with a smile. "Yes mom I'll see you later bye" she says quickly, rushing us out the door and shutting it behind us
As we got far away from the door and into Emma's car, she drove down the street before bursting into laughter.

"That was way easier than I thought" she says in-between chuckles. Allison and Teresa laugh along with her "I swear for a minute there I thought we were screwed" Teresa adds giggling. I sit in the back of the car, playing with the hem of my sweater mindlessly, trying my best to suppress my anxiety.

"Katherine you all right?" Emma asks, noticing my nervous state from the rear view mirror. "Mmm i-i'm okay.." I reply quietly, Allison turns to look at me from the passengers seat.

"It's gonna be okay kath it's just a party, loosen up a bit alright?" She says with a warm smile, I look up at her, catching a glance from Emma in the rearview mirror and feeling Teresa's hands wrap around me.

Maybe I'm just overthinking, I know I'm not supposed to remember this, but this isn't the first time I've snuck out. And all those times were for all the wrong reasons, but this is just a party, it's not like I'm going out to buy a new stash of the devil's lettuce for the week like I used to...

I smile up at them feeling better "yeah okay" I say straightening up "I'm just a bit nervous about what Joshua might think of me" I confess.

"Katherine trust me, everything will go great, he  won't be able to keep his eyes off you, and if he doesn't your too good of a girl for him anyways" Emma says as she drives past the library we lied we were going to, we mentioned this library specifically because it was close to the venue.

"I-i guess" I reply. We drove for a few minutes, before stopped abruptly at a gas station. We all looked around in confusion.

"Well I've never heard of a gas station party, this will be fun" Teresa says jokingly. "Oh very funny, we're gonna use the bathroom to change into our outfits, unless you wanna wear sweats to a party?" Emma says making Teresa shake her head in dissaproval before getting out of the car and pulling out a  duffle bag from under her seat. We all  follow her into the bathroom, locking the door behind us, before taking off our sweat pants and sweat shirts and putting them into the bag. I scanned Emma's figure in the tight blue body fitting mini dress, she was always the busty one with all the nicest curves and edges. I on the hand use my sweater to cover my chest and abdomen, being the exact replica of Emma's but flatter and less curvy..
