Thomas got up and out of bed, slowly.

"All you have to do is get him to say 'I'm sorry'. And he has to mean it. I'll be back at eleven tonight."

Thomas jumped as he heard Logan's voice, but when he turned there was nothing there. He sighed. This shouldn't be too hard... He walked outside and into the kitchen. Patton and Roman were playing on the floor, Remus, Virgil, and Janus were chatting.

Thomas silently walked over to the cabinet and grabbed the cereal, all the while panicking like there was no tomorrow. There might not be, if he couldn't do this...

And he wasn't paying any attention to his surroundings. He would've tripped over Janus if that was possible. Except the shock of not tripping made him trip...

"Ooh, sorry," Janus replied automatically, "Been a while since that's happened!" He laughed.

Thomas' eyes lit up as he realised what Janus has said. 'Sorry'.

"Yeah, it's all good. I'll clean up." Thomas breathed a sigh of relief. He'd see Logan tonight, and then not die, and all would be well.

——-
Thomas' day was messy. He hung out with his new ghost friends, he washed some dishes, went to work, then came back. Eleven o'clock was steadily approaching.
——-

Thomas had to know.

"Did you ever... do anything to make people mad at you? Like, really mad?" He asked. Janus looked taken aback.

"What gives you that impression?"

"Uh, nothing, I guess..."

"I know a liar when I hear one."

Thomas looked at the time, looking for a way out. Ten fifty-five.

"Oh, I gotta go! I have a call with my friend, Joan, I'd postpone, but they live on the other side of the world, so..."

"...Yes. Of course. Go on."

Thomas walked into his room and closed the door behind him. He sighed with relief, but it didn't last long. He turned around, to find a very angry Logan standing there, arm pulled back as if ready to punch him.

"You failed."

"No! No, he said, he said he was sorry! I fell, he said, I swear! Please!"

Logan laughed bitterly, "Didn't work, did it?"

"I swear, I swear, please, don't hurt me!"

Janus' POV
—-

Janus heard something. A sound he was all too familiar with. 'I swear, please, don't hurt me'. Thomas.

Janus grit his teeth and walked down the hall. What had this kid gotten himself into... Thomas has no idea what was most likely coming for him.

Janus opened the door. That man, beside Thomas... that was a ghost... A familiar one.
