The skies over ONI Sword Base were tainted a rustic orange. A Falcon flew overhead as Noble Six crept along a formation of rocks far outside the base. The water levels had risen substantially, the Covenant's glassing melting the polar ice-caps. The comm's relay was almost entirely underwater, as was much of the canyon surrounding Sword Base. . .
Holland: (com) Noble One, this is Noble Actual. Noble One?
Carter: (com) Go ahead.
Holland: (com) We need that base taken out, son. What's your status?
Carter: (com) Still outside. Thermal on interior shows standing-room-only. We're gonna have to thin 'em out or we'll be way to popular.
Holland: (com) Copy that, Noble one. Holland out.
Wielding a DMR and Assault Rifle, Six dropped from a small ledge, a squad of ODSTs lying in wait as he observed the Covenant defenses occupying the old comms relay. . .
Carter: (com) We've got a job to do. So, let's stay focused and get it done. Six, are you in position?
Aris: Affirmative.
Carter: (com) Good. Execute.
Six raised his hand and motioned for the ODSTs to move forward.
Carter: (com) Covenant own this sector now. They are defending for a full major strike, not a small-group infiltration. Eliminate all hostile anti-air defense so the rest of Noble can land at Sword Base for the torch and burn. Keep a low profile, we'll take them by surprise, this will be a hell lot easier.
ODST 1: Spartan, we'll follow you.
Aris: Stay close, and stay out of sight.
Shade Turrets were stationed next to the telecom tower and the power generator, creating a funnel around the beach. Grunts and Jackal Marksmen were patrolling with a Deployable Lookout Tower near the furthest Shade. To make matters worse, a Ghost had swung by. . .
Aris: Alright. Two of you move into the building and aim for the Grunts. You, head underneath the structure and hit the Jackals. I'll draw their fire.
ODST 2: Are you sure? That's risky.
Aris: Yeah, it is.
The soldiers moved into position, careful to avoid the line of sights on the Shade Turrets. Aris posted behind a rock formation and turned to his men, hand raised.
Aris: Mark.
He balled his hand into a fist, and three shots rang out, two Grunts and a Jackal falling to the ground! Aris then leaped onto the beach and tossed a grenade at the at the first Shade Turret, completely destroying it. Two Grunts fired their Fuel Rods Cannons at him, but they were left exposed to the ODSTs sights.
The Ghost rushed toward Aris, who rolled out of the way while pelting it with his Assault Rifle. It fired on him as it turned back, forcing him to jump aside, the Spartan snatching a dropped Fuel Rod Cannon and sending the Ghost to oblivion!
The second Shade atop the generator began firing on him, the ODSTs hitting it from the sides. With the Shades out of the way, Aris fired his Fuel Rod at the watchtower, blowing it out of the air. . .!
ODST 1: Structure's clear, Lieutenant!
Aris: Move up. We have more ground to cover.
As the strike team followed the path to the anti-air batteries, Noble began to voice their concerns about the mission.
