We were peacefully eating our breakfast when my phone suddenly rang so I picked it up.
It's Yzel.
Nakangiti ko itong sinagot at sumandig sa upuan. Hindi ko alam kung matutuwa ba ako o hindi dahil sinabi niya kay Cyrus ang plano ko na na-misinterpret niya rin naman.
... but I am happy right now. Because of her, I grew closer to Cyrus. He always gave me cold shoulders but when he held my hand that time, it felt like I was an important person.
(Don't tell me you're already on the plane Serenity?!) I bit my lips trying not to laugh and when I looked at Cyrus, I caught him staring at me. I mouthed 'what' but he just shook his head.
(Serenity?)
"Oh. About that, let's talk about it later."
(Later? When you're already in Paris?! You kidding me?!) She really misunderstood what I said. Hindi ko naman kasalanan na binabaan niya agad ako ng phone kagabi bago pa ako makapagpaliwanag ng maayos.
"I have a date with Cyrus," mapaglarong sambit ko kaya wala sa oras na nabulunan si Cyrus sa kinakain niya. Agad ko din namang inabot sa kanya ang tubig habang natatawa.
(Stop daydreaming—)
"I'm not. Kasama ko nga siya ngayon—"
"It's not a date," sabat niya pa kaya mas lalo akong napangiti.
"Oh rinig mo yun? It's a date daw," ani ko kay Yzel sa kabilang linya kaya ansama na ng tingin niya sa akin. Hahaha! Binaliktad ba naman eh.
(Wait— what's happening?)
"See you in school!" Binabaan ko na agad siya at binalik sa bulsa ang phone ko. I glanced at him and saw his annoyed face.
"You really like assuming things, don't you?"
"You're observing me? Sinasabi ko na nga bang interesado ka—"
"Not even a bit," he denied then wipe his mouth using a tissue. I really like teasing him dahil napakastraight to the point niyang magsalita. Siguro kapag nagconfess ako sa kanya ay paniguradong hindi siya mag-aatubiling tanggihan ang feelings ko sa kanya.
"You will fall for me," ani ko na lang at nagpatuloy kumain.
"Is that a curse?" I stopped chewing and glared at him. He tried to keep his face expressionless but later on, he smirked.
"If I fall for you, I'll marry you," he stated earnestly.
From this moment, I realized that Cyrus already felt comfortable around me. He smiled, laughed and even threw a joke now. I could barely read his thoughts yet today, I was able to sense his ease and growing trust in my presence.
"... but we both know it is impossible to happen."
Psh. He got my hopes high!
Uminom na lang ako ng tubig at pinanliitan siya ng mata. I should've recorded what he said. Kapag nagustuhan niya rin ako ay agad ko siya aayain ng kasal at ipaparinig sa kanya ang sinabi niya ngayon. No one knows what will happen in the future anyway.
"Let's go. Zhy is looking for me," aniya at nilapag ang pera sa table.
"Saan tayo pupunta?"
"School. They requested us to perform again," he said casually as if he's not injured. Biglang kumulo ang dugo ko.
"Pumayag ka rin? Alam mo naman ang kondisyon ng kamay mo! How come your members accepted their request without even considering your state?"
"Will you come with me or I'll leave you here?"
