Batman: Knight of Vengeance - The Final Chapter

Part IV - Outmatched

Superman flies Batman and Ratcatcher to a rooftop in Gotham, setting them down while letting Batman have a moment to try and recover from the beating he just took.

"You should have waited for me, Batman." He says as he stands there above him.

"You should've come sooner." Thomas grunted as he slowly brought himself to his feet, holding his side as he tries to pound some pain out of his side.

"Wonder Woman's already dealing with some other escapees right now..." He stops as he holds Batman's shoulder, looking at him. "But you're in no condition to go see her right now. Stay. Put."

Ratcatcher raises her hand, stepping over to the two of them. "Sorry to interrupt but...what are you going to do with me?"

"I'm going to contact Red Robin so that she can monitor you this whole time. The only reason that I'm not doing anything about you leading me into that trap is because of her. Keep that in mind."

"I...I understand." She walks off to the other end of the roof, keeping herself silent.

"Thomas she was threatened by people more powerful than her to do that, you can't blame her."

"Is that what you say when you think of the military scientists that treated you like a pincushion, Kal?"

Superman stands there in silence as he looks off to the side.

"That's what I thought." He taps his gauntlet a bit before bringing his hand up to activate his comms. "Blackbird to Whitehare come in."

"This is Whitehare, glad to hear your voice, boss." Rose comes in on the other end.

"I'm here with Superman, we're going to meet up with Wonder Woman in a minute and attempt to round up the Maximum Security inmates. I want you to make your way towards my current position, as Ratcatcher is currently here."

"Olivi...Ratcatcher? What is she doing there?"

"Bait from Arkham. Took a beating, but I'll be fine. Just get here and do what you want with her. We still have bigger priorities right now."

"Roger that, Whitehare out."

Thomas slumps against the barrier wall on the roof again before picking himself up, motioning Superman to not try and help him around.

"We need to head towards Diana, make a plan to remove Adam, Maxima, and whoever else came from Maximum out of the equation, as well as their new boss."

"Remove? You don't mean..."

"I do Kal. Any other night I would try to prevent putting my hands back into that red stained sink...but...we have no choice now. I have no choice."
