Batman: Knight of Vengeance - The Final Chapter

Part VII - Evacuation

"Rose this plan of yours sucks." Duela admits as the remaining members of the Batfamily move through the streets in a commandeered car, using it to try and avoid suspicion.

"This is supposed to be a sort of rescue mission; we're trying not to run into anybody right now. Cause that can only end in a mound of failure." Rose replies.

"Glad to see you're impressed by our skill."

The group is making their way through the east side of Gotham, having gone this way after leaving Gotham Theater. Rose wants to meet up with Ratcatcher and get her to safety before the area is overrun with criminals again. Rose and Olivia's friendship goes back a long way, to when Rose was just getting moved in to Gotham City and was attending Gotham Academy. While they weren't the best of friends, she always blamed herself for when she was abducted by the Court of Owls and left in a sewer in order to break her spirit for an initiation test. After that Olivia became the Ratcatcher, small time villain.

But she's attempted to move on from guilt, mainly due to the help Harper provided to her. If there's anyone who's been there for Rose as long as Thomas, it would be Harper.

"Guys trust her on this one, she knows what she's doing." Harper reassures the group as they finally make it to the apartment building where Thomas pinged Rose from earlier.

Filing out of the car one by one the group starts to check the building out, looking around for any signs of trouble before making it inside. Surprisingly quiet, but for now they shouldn't really have to worry about that. The only thing they have to worry about is getting Ratcatcher extracted safely.

"Okay, Harper and I are going to the roof to get Ratcatcher. I want each of you covering a floor to make sure that we aren't getting ambushed." Rose orders as she makes Tim stop at the second floor door, before starting to continue upwards.

Each member takes another floor before Harper and Rose finally make it up to the roof access. Harper pulls her pistol out while Rose steadies her sword, before breaching onto the rooftop. Instantly they see Olivia cowering in a corner, as Rose runs right over to her, pulling her mask back.

"Olivia, hey, hey it's me. It's me. We're going to get you out of here alright. We have a rendezvous point outside of the city we're going to drop you off at."

Olivia doesn't say anything, she just looks too shaken. Rose looks cautious, wondering what could've made her this sort of...shy. She doesn't worry about it too much right now, and instead picks the girl up, slinging her arm over her shoulder as they start to make their way downstairs again.

"This is Whitehare to all, head back down to the car and get it rolling, we're ready to go."

Harper and Rose start to move back downstairs with Olivia in tow, as Olivia finally starts to speak.

"He's back....the big one."

Rose's eyes go wide as she realizes what she's talking about, and just then Bane bursts through the second story wall, right next to the three women, looking down at them.

"The Batman is not with you. Disappointing. He at least provides me with more of an interesting challenge." The giant man says, his voice almost commanding of them.

"Red Robin get Ratcatcher the hell out of here now!" Harper exclaims as she pulls her guns out and starts firing away at Bane, giving Rose the opportune time to escape.

They start running down the stairs as they can hear the fight above them, with Olivia's expression looking pained and horrified. As they get out to the car, Cole runs up and helps Ratcatcher in the car as he looks back to the building.

"Rose, where's Harper?"

His question is answered right away as Harper is thrown out of the building, sliding across the road. Bane slowly steps through the hole he created, looking over at Cole right away with a smirk on his face.

"You are the one that was close with the Bat I killed. Grifter. The look on your face as I snapped her in two still brings a smile to my face."

Cole instantly gets filled with rage as he goes in to attack Bane against Rose's attempts at a protest. She curses herself out before running to the front of the car, slamming the window to get Tim and Duela's attention.

"You get this car the hell out of here as fast as you can. Do you hear me? Go!"

The two newer members of the family drive off quickly as Rose pulls her sword out, running in to help Cole fight Bane off.
