In order to plow their way through the masses of supervillains in between them as Diana, they've had to fight every single one of them, no matter how difficult. It seemed as if all of them had the urge to take down the heroes even if it ended them, and this time, it did.
Most of the supervillains were simple to take care of, most of the more street-level drugrunners that Thomas ran into frequently during his career. But they never had to deal with Superman before. So the combined efforts of the two members of the Ternion were able to overpower every foe they went up against. At the end of the trek however, they came upon Diana fighting off Killer Croc and Coppermouth, both beasts controlled by Poison Ivy.
Ivy instantly notices as the two black suited heroes fly into her domain. "And just when I thought tonight wasn't supposed to get any more interesting. Batman and Superman. It's almost like my lucky day."
Neither of them acknowledged the woman, instead charging forward, as Superman tackled Killer Croc and forced the villain into the wall, as Batman ran up and tossed a flashbang at Coppermouth's face, blinding the creature temporarily in order to get the drop on it. He jumps on top of the beast and pulls out his combat knife, trying to go for a stab right through the head. Copperhead moves around so much it's hard for him to maintain his balance enough to finish him off. Diana rushes towards Copperhead just as he thrashes his head forward, and causes Batman to fall into Wonder Woman, the both of them falling down.
Superman slides across the floor behind them as Killer Croc finally managed to regain his footing. The reptilian beast starts to step towards Superman, all as the Kryptonian fires his heat vision directly towards his green scales. Croc blocks most of the blast with his arms, continuing to close the distance between him and Superman. But that's just what Kal is counting on. He pulls his fist back and when Croc is close enough, he lets loose, sending Croc flying through the wall again, slumping down to the ground.
Copperhead lunges forward at Batman and Wonder Woman, as both of them roll out of the way. The both of them instead decide to shut down the beast's motor functions and try and get it after it can't really fight back anymore. He grabs his knife again while Diana pulls out her sword. They run towards Coppermouth, running both in front of and behind it as they start slashing away mostly at his legs. Slowly the damage and bloodletting slows the beast down to where it slumps to its knees. Batman runs up behind it and puts it in a headlock as Diana starts her approach, spinning her sword around before raising it up and slamming it into the beast's head, causing it to go limp instantly.
"Kal, Batman. Glad you could finally join me." Diana wipes her sword off on her gauntlet before putting it back in her sheath.
"We're not done yet." Thomas says as he points back up to where Ivy looks in partial surprise, before pretend contentment.
"I'm surprised the three of you managed to take care of that so fast. No matter. I'll be out of your hair anyways, the green needs me..."
Ivy's pod starts to shut as Thomas pulled out his pistol and started to check the ammo clip. "Superman." He said, motioning up to Ivy's pod.
Superman rushed at it and instantly forced the thing open, grabbing the metahuman woman inside. He headbutted her and caused her to fall unconscious, before floating down and setting her on the ground. Superman attempts to follow up with some sort of plan, before Thomas walks up and shoots the unconscious Ivy right in the head.
"I see you're finally thinking more like your old self. Almost reminds me of your time on Themyscira." Diana says, not even phased a bit by what Thomas just did.
"It's dirty, but it gets the job done. We need to clean the city not make it possible for it to get dirtier."
"I still don't like this idea." Superman protests, but mostly keeps to himself besides that.
"So, Thomas, what's the plan?"
"We need to find the grand planner in all this. They seem to be helping some sort of big boss, Kal and I came into contact with this individual at Arkham."
"Are they still there?"
"No, from what I've seen they're starting to head north, out of the city. We haven't engaged them yet because we needed a little more firepower."
"Then it seems you came to the right place."
Diana and Thomas put their foreheads together, smiling a bit before Thomas turns back to Superman nodding at him.
"Kal, we need a bit of eyes in the sky. Monitor the mystery guest, see who's with them so we can plan ahead."
Superman nods back before boosting off into the air, going to get a better vantage point.
"You know, all this destruction got me thinking. After this...you should come back to Themyscira. Leave Gotham to those who have been with you since the beginning almost. You need the retirement." Diana says as she pulls her sword out to check in case it should be sharpened.
"Any other situation I would straight say no. But you do have a point, Diana. Give us a chance to truly rekindle old sparks that we haven't been able to recapture as part of the Ternion."
"Not my entire reasoning for the idea, but I accept it anyways."
"We'll talk about it more later, Kal's coming back."
Superman lands in front of the two heroes, before looking visibly confused and concerned.
"What, what is it?" Thomas asked, urgency in his voice.
"The mystery guest...they're heading to Wayne Manor."
