It was not possible to groan any louder than I did when my alarm clock screamed.  I hit it until it fell off the night stand and unplugged itself.  Six fricken O’ clock in the morning!

I drove my car, a sexy, sleek, black Mustang, to the airport, where there was a guy waiting to drive it to Tennessee.  I didn’t understand why I couldn’t just drive it down.  I didn’t want someone else touching it!

He shook my hand and reached for the keys in the other; I dangled them just out of his reach.  “Listen; I don’t know who you are, and I know you’re just following the…Alpha’s orders, but this…this is my baby.  My pride and joy.  If there is so much a finger print smeared on the window, I will find you and I will kill you.”

The man smiled at me.  He looked almost thirty, so I was a little relieved.  “Point taken.  I wouldn’t hurt such a beautiful car.  She’s in good hands.”

“He.”  I corrected.  I have randomly named the car “Tim,” so he’s a guy.

Laughing, he says, “Alright, alright.  I actually like living, so I’ll make you happy by keeping it in perfect condition.”  His hand was outstretched again, so I reluctantly handed him the keys.  I walked away with my stuff and tried not to look back.  I kept ensuring myself that I was getting it back.

On the plane, I tapped my fingers.  I still had my cell phone on, so responded to a new text.

                Hey, Lauren, it’s Blake.

I was very surprised by this since I haven’t spoken to him since he sent me away.  But what did I have to lose?

                Well…hi.

I just wanted to ensure you that I had no part in this.  I tried to convince him out of it, but he wouldn’t budge.  Even as his father, I had no power to stop him.

                I sighed.  I know.

Assuming you’d like to finish high school, you’re already enrolled to start next week.  You’ll have some time to settle in; you have your own apartment.  Your car will come shortly.

Thanks.  I replied, shrugging as it sent.  Then I turned my phone off.
