I was still not prepared for school, and it was driving me out of my mind.  Thinking positive wasn’t helping.  I was so damn tired.

My hair was in the biggest blonde knot you could imagine, and I looked emo in my black long-sleeved shirt, black boots, and navy blue jeans.  I wasn’t trying to impress anyone; I was trying to be invisible.

Trevor had somehow convinced me to let him drive me to and from.  He picked up my schedule and I know I have two classes plus lunch with him.  He was waiting for me.

“You’re late.”  He smirked.  I closed his door harder than I should have.

“Two and a half minutes!”  I complained, crossed my arm, and put my feet on the dash board.  He swatted them down.

“Two and a half minutes of my life I will never get back.”  He shook his head.  “You girls and the time you use to get ready.”

“Excuse me?”  I demanded and gestured at my appearance.  “I look like hell.”

“Are you freaking kidding me?”  Trevor demands.  I give him a questioning look.  “You look beautiful, L.”

I stayed silent, finding that very unlikely.  “Thanks.”  I whispered, trying not to add for the pity.

The ride was unbelievably short, and I groaned when I saw the place; just how I remembered.

“You’ll be fine.”  He said, before muttering about how such a complainer I was.  I got out of the car, and my knees turned to jelly when I saw there were a couple groups of kids outside.  Girls smacking gum with their skirts that show off way to much ass, and rowdy guys.  I couldn’t hope to get one day of peace.

I felt Trevor place a hand on my back, and he made my body move forward.  “I’ll introduce you to some of my buddies; they’ll love you.”

I avoided gazes as I tried to block the chatter and put confidence in my step.  I made simple conversation with Trevor as we went through the hallway, and waved goodbye when he dropped me off at my homeroom.

The teacher seemed nice, and gave me a special study guide of all the things I had missed in class, and what I should be reviewing.  I didn’t talk to anyone else.

Finally, it was fourth period, one period before my lunch class, and the first one me and Trevor shared.  I was staring at the clock, when I felt a tap on the shoulder.

“Are you like, emo, or something?”  A girl asked boringly, her mouth reeking of bubble gum.

“No.”  I said firmly, “Mind your own business.”

“Whatever.”  She scoffed, almost like a challenge.  One I was smart enough to not fill.

When I didn’t reply, she tapped me again.  “Yes?”  I tried not to hiss.

“Why aren’t you all offended?”  She asked.

“Because I don’t want to pick any fights.”  I said, obviously.

“Well you are one smart cookie, cause I’m the future Luna, and you need to know your place.”  She said, giving me a look I couldn’t read.  I tried not to let my eyes slip from hers and glance at her…slut-er-ish (is that a word?) body.  She wore clothes too revealing and tight.

At first I was like, smart cookie?  The hell?!  But, then I got what she was trying to tell me.  Future Luna, pssh, whatever you say.

“Ok.”  I shrugged, knowing what lengths a girl will go to secure a guy.

When the bell rang, I pushed myself from the desk and slipped through the door and into the crowd.  I was heading to my period, when I saw Trevor ahead of me.  I tried to catch up when him when some kid slammed him against the lockers.  He struggled for a minute, but the boy was bigger and holding him by the collar.  “You think that was funny?!  Spilling chemicals on my textbook?!  You’re paying for it!”

“I didn’t do it on purpose!  Plus, you pushed me into it!”  Trevor shouted in defense.

“Hey, don’t you try to blame it on me, lower class!  Since my higher authority dominates yours, I’m right.”  He growled.  The guy had blonde hair and blue eyes, opposite of Trevor’s brown hair and light green eyes.  “Am I right?!”

“Yes.”  Trevor said in defeat, but he was having trouble breathing.

“Yes, what?”  The guy shoved Trevor again.

“Yes, Beta.”  He spit.  Sadly, it costed him, because when the Beta let him go, he also kneed in the chest.  The noise Trevor made in pain shook me too the core and caused me to unfreeze in my place.  I trudged over, and pushed through the Beta’s buddies, who had surrounded them during the incidents.

Without a word, I gave him his own taste of his medicine, and kneed him right in the manhood.  He doubled over, holding himself.  “Da hell?!”  He cried.

I tried to lift Trevor, but one of the Beta’s buddies pulled both of my arms behind my back.  When the Beta managed to compose himself, he stared me right in eyes and his eyebrows raised.  “Well, well, well; it seems like when ever your leave or return, you like to hurt me.”

                I shrugged.  “He’s my friend.”

                “Well, your friends an ass.”

                “You’re an ass.”  I growled.

“Ahh, little Lauren; you still have that fire I recall, even with your weak and uselessness.”  Beta said, referring to my inability to shift.  What did he say…oh; I think I broke his nose before I left.  What was his name…Parker?

“Good to know.”  I said sarcastically.  That’s when he slapped me.

“Don’t hurt her!”  Trevor tried to get up, but two more guys kept him pinned.  One of them kicked him.

“Stop!”  I shouted, and Beta looked at me with annoyance.  I thought he was going to hit me again when a voice ceased all movement.

“If anyone touches my mate one more fucking time, I will kill all of you!!!”
