I didn’t get scared easily, but seeing him at an hour like this put a knot in my stomach.  I immediately tried to close the door, but his foot was faster.  Kyle pushed the door open and I backed away.  He closed it behind him.

“What are you doing here?”  I said without trying to freak out.

“I wanted to check on you,” He said like he was seriously worried about me, “You haven’t been home in a week.  And you shouldn’t have boys in your apartment.”

“Excuse me?”  I was getting angry, “Says the one who broke into my apartment!  Get out!”

He chuckled darkly, “No can do, babe.”  I didn’t like it when he called me babe.  I used my new ability to growl and lowly warned him to get out.

                “Oh?  You can growl now….”

I froze.  Ever since I met Kyle I knew he wasn’t human.  But he didn’t have the sense of a wolf; what was he?

“You…you need to leave.”  I said with a shaking voice.  I refused to turn my back to him and backed around the couch; he followed me at an alarming speed.  I clumsily backed into a wall.  Yup, I’m fucked.

He got right up into my face and his cold hand caressed my cheek.  He wasn’t attractive at and all, with a ton of acne.  I felt like one of the red lumps was going to come alive and jump onto my face.  His breath was like fish, raw fish.  I coughed.

“HELP!”  I shouted with all the energy I had left and he clamped a hand over my mouth.

“Shhh….Shhh, my love.  I’ll get us out soon.  Then we will—“

CRASH!  There goes my front door.  And there is Ryan; a gallon of ice cream in his hand—or it was a gallon.  It was been squished by his shaking hand and angry expression.  I gave him a desperate look.

“LET HER GO.”  Ryan yelled and shifted on the spot.  His peaceful wolf was now menacing and threateningly showing its teeth.  A mass of blackness lunged forward and Kyle immediately went for the window.  He crashed through it and Ryan’s wolf clamped it’s jaws as if it had just missed biting it.  I ran up to the window and looked down; my attacker was gone.  Disappeared.  What could survive a fall like that?

I turned to Ryan’s wolf and cried his name before hugging him.  And crying.  Damn, I really broke my promise on never crying again.

I felt him shift back, and even though I knew he was naked, I didn’t care.  I didn’t look.  I just kind of blacked out.

“Yes, I want everything on everyone in the area with the name ‘Kyle’….maybe seventeen-eighteen?...Yes this is important, stop asking questions!”

“Ry?”  My voice croaked.  My vision was a little blurry, but I recognized the cool feeling of his bed sheets, so I know I was in his house.  Ryan came into a clear view, hanging up a phone call from the other side of the room, and came over to me.

“Go back to sleep.”  He ushered, but I was already awake.  I sat up, and even though he tried to push me down, I resisted him.

“What’s wrong?”  I persisted, and rubbed my eyes.  Ryan rubbed my backed, and since my shirt had ridden up, his fingers tingled my skin.  I leaned into hm.
