Back in Bowlivekeya, William groaned in frustration. He threw his head back and ran his hands through his hair. For the past week, all he had been doing was going through documents that he would need to memorize for when he became king and working on his wedding vows. The latter was tougher. He hadn't come up with a single thing.
He threw his head back and closed his eyes, running his hands through his hair then down his face. "I can't do it! I just can't do it! Everything I try to write isn't true and it seems like I am talking about Jayme, you know, as a friend." He leaned forward and banged his head on the table a few times, before just letting it rest there.
Chandler's eyes followed the pendulum on their father's desk, which he had been playing with. He had been helping his brother in any way that he could. "You are just going to have to give in and write something. Who cares if it isn't true? Make it sound good to please Father and Leshay." He couldn't understand why William was so dead set on being honest.
William lifted his head and crossed his arms on the table, resting his chin on his folded arms. "Oh right, starting a marriage by lying. Great idea Chandler, I'll keep that in mind for my defense when Father yells at me for not putting any effort into it." He could see how that could go down. Just the thought made him shiver.
Chandler put his hands between each side of the bob to stop it. "Stop playing the martyr. Do you want me to write them for you? That way I can take the blame if Father is upset about them." He was offering to take the blame for his brother. How could you not accept that offer? It was a good one and not many siblings would offer such a thing.
William sighed. He knew it was a good offer. Having your sibling take the blame, some wouldn't hesitate to jump at the offer. However, he wasn't going to because this was his wedding, not his brothers. "I'm going to continue to deny you. The answer is no. This is something I have to do. I may ask Rosalya what she has so far and maybe that can give me an idea on how to word what I wish to say." He hadn't seen much of his fiancèe for several days.
Chandler leaned back in the chair and put his feet up on the desk. "I doubt even she has her vows written. Most choose to say whatever they feel in the moment, but that wouldn't work with you two since neither of you love each other." He saw an old-looking paper folded neatly on the desk. He snatched it up quickly and unfolded it, glancing through the letter. "Did you borrow Uncle Morgan's wedding vows?"
William leaned over and pushed his brother's feet off the desk. "No, Uncle Morgan handed it to me. He thinks it will inspire me. Mother was looking for her and Father's wedding vows. I hoped they could help me but so far, Uncle Morgan's hasn't." Sometimes you could get inspired by someone else's work, but he surely wasn't.
Chandler read over the vows. It was a pretty short one, and could only last about two minutes. "I don't know how Uncle Morgan thought this would be helpful. These vows seem plain, forced, vague. I would have thought he would have been a romantic person. It seems like he was forced to do it, like you." He cringed at the thought of saying what was on the paper.
William rolled his eyes at his brother's words. That seemed highly unlikely seeing as how he and his wife loved each other. "He wasn't forced. He said he wasn't good with words so he tried his best. Not everyone is good with words." That was the truth, said by Morgan when he had given it to him.
Chandler didn't believe anything his uncle said anymore. He just had a bad feeling about him. Not to mention how he had treated Essa at the tea party, he heard and he was disappointed in him. "Hmm, sure if you say so." He huffed, crossing his arms and slouching in the chair. "Anyways, have you seen Essa at all since the tea party?" He recalled how he was going to apologize to her.
William nodded, recalling he had spoken to her shortly after he had promised to let the issue about his wedding go. "Yes, but I haven't been able to see her at all lately, due to the wedding. Who knew a wedding could be so successful?" He was about to continue but was cut off by the door opening.
