Kalirene walked up to her son and Rosalya as soon as they had come back into the room. She had a doozy of a time keeping their guests busy. "It didn't take them long to go to sleep did it?" She asked, resting her hands together in front of her dress.
Rosalya looked up as she let go of William's hand. "No. As soon as they got into bed they were out. No story was needed. I remember being that age and being able to sleep that soundly and quickly." She sighed, wishing she was able to sleep like that again.
Kalirene was glad to hear that they had gone to sleep without any trouble. "I should have had them go to bed earlier, but alas I figured they should at least have one night where they could stay up late." She did feel a little guilty about letting their bedtime slip to a later time.
William placed his hand on his mother's arm, noting the guilty look on her face. "There is no harm in it. It isn't every day they get to stay up, and I can say from experience that one time isn't going to change anything." He reassured his mother.
Kalirene smiled softly, meeting her son's eyes. He always knew how to help her feel better. Seeing how that was how she was with him growing up, she was simply glad he retained that. "I suppose you're right. At least they are now in bed and sleeping. I'm sure it had to do with you two tucking them into bed."
Raymond walked up to his wife and wrapped his arm around her waist. "Ah, so that is where you went." He had wondered where his son had gone off to again. "You're sisters' maids could have handled putting them to bed, since it's rude to leave your guests unattended." He frowned, shaking his head in dismay.
William took a deep breath and tried to keep his cool before speaking. "That is what my sisters wanted. How could I deny them? Unbeknownst to you, I care about what they want and would gladly go to the ends of the earth to make them happy." He explained through a forced smile.
Kalirene interrupted Raymond before he could speak again. She placed her hand on his arm and gave him a soft look. "No one even noticed," She told him, hoping it would put him at ease. "He hasn't spent much time with his sisters since he's been busy. Allow him this one thing, please, Raymond?"
Raymond rolled his eyes. Hearing his wife beg to allow his son this one thing was ridiculous. Her excuse for him as he had been busy and didn't get a chance? He scoffed."You'll get busier after your wedding and coronation, must I remind you that it's also the coronation and not just the wedding?" He reminded his son.
Leshay walked up and interrupted their conversation, having to put her input in since she had been eavesdropping. "Your wedding and coronation are tomorrow and there is much to prepare for before you walk down the aisle." She wanted to make it clear that the wedding would happen.
Rosalya frowned when her mother so rudely interrupted their conversation. "Yes, Mother. The ceremony doesn't start until three, therefore we have much time to prepare. It shouldn't take that long to get ready." She planned to stall for as much time as she could.
Leshay scoffed at how cavalier her daughter was being. "Rosalya, it takes a few hours to get ready! There is much to do, hair, makeup, the wedding dress, the accessories, even what you wear underneath for the wedding night!" She exclaimed, shaking her head.
Rosalya rolled her eyes and pursed her lips. Just like her mother to exaggerate and make things seem worse than they truly are. "That almost sounds like a task. Hardly something I'm looking forward to when you put it that way." She countered, locking challenging eyes with her mother.
William could see how agitated Rosalya was getting and figured he'd better take the conversation in a different direction. "I suppose we can let the ball go for about half an hour longer. Although, I'm nearing my limit for tonight." He said, glancing at the clock before turning back to his parents and Leshay.
