The day of the ball had come and everyone was excited. What should only take a few hours to get ready was taking up the whole day. From getting pampered, to leisurely making sure their outfits were perfect, to fixing their hair in lavish styles.

Samika, Disha, and ShaFarah were getting ready, but they all had one thing on their mind: Essa. They hadn't been able to see her and didn't know about the ordeal she had gone through. No one told them so they still thought she would attend the ball.

The three princesses were in the jewelry room, accompanied by three maids, who were helping them accessorize their ball gowns. Each one was decked out in either lace, frills, or bows with a color scheme tailored to the girl's taste.

ShaFarah climbed up the step stool in front of the dress form that displayed her dress for the ball. "What do you think? The blue necklace or the green necklace?" She asked her sisters, holding each in her hand up to the dress. "I'm leaning towards green since my dress has more blue than green and I want to balance everything out.

Samika picked up two pink bracelets that matched her pink and white dress. "Um, go with the green? It matches your shoes and the ribbon you'll put in your hair." She replied, glancing over at her sister just long enough to reply.

ShaFarah frowned, letting out a whine of exasperation. "You didn't even look long enough to make a sound judgment! This is the biggest ball we've ever attended! We will be gazed upon by hundreds of people despite Rosalya and William being the center of attention. I am hoping to get a dance with a young boy this time, even if it is from our dreadful cousin, Mikey."

Disha glanced over at her sister's dress and thought about it. "Why does it matter? You won't take our advice anyways? You never do." She replied, picking out a simple purple necklace to go with her purple and orange dress.

ShaFarah opened her mouth to speak as she thought about what she would reply to her sister. "Uh . . . I still would like your opinion either way. Even if I do choose not to take it, I do like getting other opinions and if they happen to match with mine then marvelous!" She explained, opting for the latter necklace since her sisters were of no help.

Disha rolled her eyes. That was typically how her younger sister thought. "You spend too much time with Leshay." She mumbled under her breath. She then turned to her maid. "Could you find Taileiah for me and bring her here." She asked sweetly, to which her maid nodded and left the room.

Samika ran her fingers over all the hairpins nested in a velvety box. She stopped on a beautiful crystal rose hairpin. "Oh, this is what I was missing! It'd look beautiful in my hair and match my bracelets." She turned around and walked over to the mirror, holding it up to her hair.

Taileiah entered the room and bowed to the three princesses, followed by the maid appointed to Disha. "You're highnesses." She greeted them. She didn't know why she had been called, well, she might have had a small inclination to what they wanted.

ShaFarah smiled as walked down the steps where her dress was displayed and over to Taileiah. "Thank you for coming. I'm sorry if we disturbed you while you were getting ready. We called you here for two reasons, one being this: here you go." She handed her a satin pouch of coins.

Taileiah reached out her hand and gently took the pouch and looked at it hesitantly before looking over at the three princesses. "What's this for?" She asked. She didn't understand why she was being given coins. She hadn't done anything to warrant payment, at least that she could figure.

ShaFarah smiles and places her hands on her hips. "Compensation for Essa's dress, and the rising of ours. I love Leshay but these dresses were hideous and gaudy. I'm happy with just my frills, Samika is happy with just her bows, and Disha is happy with just her lace. They look extravagant yet simple." She explained, turning back to once again admire her glimmering dress.
