Later that morning, Maileena suddenly pushed open the doors to the common room that connected all their rooms. "Oh Mother, Father, I come bearing wonderful news!" She beamed, her vice bright and airy as she strode up to a chair, plopping down in it.
Leshay, startled, spilled a little tea on the table and gasped. Her head whipped around towards her eldest daughter. "Where have you been?" She asked, dabbing the spilled tea with a cloth. She had noticed her daughter was nowhere to be found for breakfast.
Ezekiel perked up, setting down the newspaper, which was filled with the most boring stuff. "What news? Anything is more interesting than this newspaper and this kingdom's boring news." He gave his daughter his full attention, leaning forward.
Maileena smirked as she ran her fingers along with the pearls on her necklace. "I was speaking with the island girl, that is where I have been." She began to explain, looking around and making sure it was just them. "I also took a little detour but that is not important nor of any interest of yours." Her voice became flat as she mumbled the last part under her breath
Ezekiel was intrigued to know more about it. He didn't realize she'd choose to speak with her so soon, considering had spoken about it the day before. "So soon? How did that go? You didn't scare the poor girl did you?" He chuckled, sitting back. "I'm joking."
Maileena chuckled, bounding her foot in the air crossing her legs. "I have successfully made it so that she will be leaving! Perhaps tomorrow and not come to any of the events! Isn't it wonderful? I find that marvelous." She felt a sense of pride as she explained what she had done
Leshay brought the teacup to her lips but paused. Setting it back down on the saucer, she set it on the table. "Whatever did you say for her to come to that judgment?" She had tried many times but that island girl was resilient and still attended other gatherings. "It sure worked."
Maileena picked up a teacup and poured herself a cup of tea. "I simply explained that her being friends with William and Jayme - two men - was unbecoming and could be considered a whore for spending too much time with them. You should have seen her face, it was satisfying." She knew it wasn't that kind, but she had to do what she had to do.
Ezekiel blinked a few times, having to do a double-take at what his daughter had just admitted. "You said what? Maileena, I don't know whether to be proud or appalled. Not many think that way, at least know, so I'm surprised she believed that." He never thought that she would say such a thing, but yet again, all his children were surprising him lately.
Leshay was shocked that Maileena was bold enough to explain that to her. "Be both. If it got rid of her then how can we deny it? Someone had to say something to get her to leave." As long as it worked and the island girl was gone, she couldn't complain. "You know how beliefs come and go with society, so it is nothing that isn't believable."
Ezekiel hummed, pursing his lips and tapping his foot on the ground. "I agree, but calling her a whore?" He didn't think that was necessary, however, it was already said and done. "As long as none of this gets back to your sister and she leaves, I believe it should be fine. It had to be done and that was a good way to do it."
Maileena smiled smugly, setting the teacup on the table. "I knew you'd be proud. I took care of the little problem for us and now Rosalya and Wiliam can have no distractions and continue with the wedding." She clapped her hands together then rested them against her left cheek.
Ezekiel picked up an apple and took a bite out of it. "I don't think William has had any distractions, considering he is still cooped up in his father's study. If I had a son I'd do the same, it sometimes is the only way to learn discipline." He only had daughters and was grateful he didn't have to deal with having boys.
