The two charcoal haired males sat at a table, reading records of the newborns, when suddenly one of them closed his book and shook his head.
Aro looked up at him with an expectant expression, the other sighed a bit before closing his eyes and leaning his head back, slightly pondering whether or not he should express his worries.
"With them here, I've been thinking about what happened." Euthymius started, still a bit unsure. "I don't think it makes sense for it to be that easy."
"Elaborate."
"Well, it would be impossible for such a invasion to happen in a castle full of guards. Besides, I know my guards, they aren't incompetent. They had centuries of training, how could such thing happen and no one notice?" He rambled and turned to his older brother.
"That is the thing, dear. Jane saw them with the torch in their hands, she showed me herself." The elder reminded him.
"I know Jane, adélfos." He said as his brother smiled at the use of their language. ('adélfos' means brother in Greek)
"Of course you do! She is one of the main guards." His brother joked, however Euthymius wasn't amused by the slightest.
"Exactly." He said gesturing towards the other male. "She wouldn't just watch them set the fire, she would have used her powers. She uses them if someone simply doesn't nod along, why didn't she use it to stop them?"
"Euthymius." Aro's tone changed towards a serious one. "You have to understand, poor Jane wasn't sure of what to do! What would you have done in her place?"
"I would have ended them!" Euthymius got up from his chair placing his hands on the table. "I would have killed the intruders, like we, as guards, were trained to do!"
Aro got up as well and looked at the other with disbelief.
"Are you seriously doubting your own coven because of those bastards? So now that you found your mates will you be on favour of them killing Didyme? What next? Will you help them kill me too?"
"Are you out of your mind?" He questioned angrily as he sent his first down the table, making it fall to the ground. "I just want to know what happened to my sister! Don't I have that right?"
"You do know what happened to her, Euthymius. You are just reading too much into things that aren't meant to be read into."
The eldest approached him and placed his hands on both his arms.
"I know it's hard, but you have to accept, not everything in life or death makes sense. And our Didyme was an example of that." The king said looking into the red eyes of his younger brother.
He simply nodded and separated from the other passing a hand through his charcoal hair.
"You're right, Aro. I am reading too much into things, again. It was normal for her to freeze. I'm sorry."
"It's alright, it is understandable it takes a bit of time to actually be able to accept the death of a loved one." He reassured with a sad smile. "How about you take a bit of a break from this and go to the library for awhile. I'll call Caius to help me."
He nodded again and smiled a bit before exiting the throne room, his cape following him while doing dramatic turns and his varnished shoes producing little to no sound against the marbled floors.
He opened the door to the library and halted a bit in his pace when he caught sight of one of his mates, Stefan.
Damn was the man beautiful, it reminded him of the soft features one would see in a painting, and those red ruby eyes, shining on the light as the form marked permanent wide eyes on the individuals face, the soft pink lips slightly parted at the sight of him and the curls as defined as Minerva's ones that bounced healthily everytime the other moved even just an inch.
Euthymius surprised himself for already being so familiar about the other one after just the few meetings they were destined to have in distanced stances, due to the pain etched in his own crude heart.
He forced himself to separate his eyes from the mirage that was Stefan and went to his secretary, were he usually sat while looking out the window into the gardens or were he read the dreadfully fantastic novels he never got tired of.
Instead of meeting an empty place, however, he was met with the sight of the back of a leather jacket and a head with the blond hair that was almost as pale as the owner, Vladimir.
He tried to stop himself, but his legs moved on their own towards the brown carved table and the scoffing male.
"Those guards should have more respect, we are the guests of honour here."
Euthymius was beyond amused and his bad mood dissipated into the air as the will to laugh took over him at the sight of the shock on the Romanian male's face.
He felt his lips turn up the slightest bit and he raised his black eyebrow while examining the others hands that now gripped into his table.
"Did my guards mistreat you, sir?" He asked glancing slightly at the group of guards who had been holding their laugh before turning intimidated at the glance and then at the brown haired male who seemed to be pinching the bridge of his nose.
Vladimir squinted his eyes at the other and slightly followed the line of his gaze, before he turned his head up and dropped his feet on the wooden table.
"In fact, they did. You see, me and my brother were just talking amongst ourselves and those... șobolani, accused us of wanting to get revenge on your coven." The male spoke gesturing at the group who was trying to come up with excuses to defend themselves. (șobolani= rats)
"Am I one of the rats as well?" He asked leaning against the table.
"Of course! You are their leader." Vladimir said looking straight into his eyes and a smirk formed on Euthymius face as he accepted the silent competition.
The air was tense between them but neither of them broke the intense gaze, Euthymius was going to have fun with him.
