The night was pitch black, an eerie silence dominating the area.

Despite the lack of lighting, Stefan could still make out the silhouette of Euthymius Volturi.

His back was rigid as he sat in the border of the balcony dangerously towards the outer part of said pedestal, his shoulder length hair covered his face darkly.

The romanian male furrowed his eyebrows, pursuing his lips slightly. He wondered about the mysteriousness of the male, about what plagues the mind of his mate; after all, everytime he saw the other, he was always worrying about something, pacing nervously, always with clouded eyes and hesitant moves.

After pondering for a while, he took the brave decision of going towards the balcony of the male, to keep him company, as the other seemed like he needed someone to talk to. So Stefan jumped from his own balcony towards the one where his mate was.

Said male merely glazed towards where the other landed, before stopping his examination as he met his vivid and curious eyes.

It was like the strong wall Euthymius had built for himself wasn't as impenetrable as it had previously seemed, for as soon as the curly haired male looked into his eyes he detected the confusion and frustration that took over the mind of the Volturi male.

Stefan didn't realise he was approaching the other until he felt his own hand landing on the strong shoulder of the guard. For a moment, he felt the other tense up under his grip before he relaxed again. Their stares were connected in a trance, each of them melting into the other, like a warm cup of milk and honey.

"Are you alright, Euthymius?" The name of his mate rolled off his tongue pleasantly.

Euthymius' eyes widened and he was stunned at the way the other just naturally said his name for the first time and couldn't help but swoon at the gentle voice.

Deep into each other's eyes they looked, warm pools of vivid and milky red creating a sort of magical cohesion of care, sweetness, curiousity.

Euthymius gulped down a bit. "I have a lot on my mind today." His eyes took a quick departure from Stefan's eyes to observe the garden beneath them, scanning for any member of the Volturi that might find themselves there.

Just to his misfortune he found Aro sitting with Sulspicia and brought the attention of the other male beside him towards the pair. The curly haired male just nodded in understanding.

However to the surprise of Stefan, instead of going quiet, Euthymius simply turned to him and told him in Romanian: "I can't talk about this in front of him."

The eyes of the shorter male, comically widened in size as he looked at the taller one. "You speak Romanian?"

"Yes, I learned it a few centuries ago." He answered amused after seeing the excited reaction of the other.

Euthymius had learned the language through Athenodora, Caius' wife. She had been a part of the Romanian coven long ago and found herself wanting to keep up with the language despite not being a part of the other coven anymore.

He had found her talking to herself in Romanian once and fell in love with the language, it didn't take long until he actually asked her to teach him the wonders of the idiom.

The same had happened to him before with other languages, however he felt different when learning Romanian compared to when he learned other languages, later on he found that it was due to the link between the language and his two mates who spoke it.

"I didn't expect you to know Romanian!" Stefan said, a small smile growing on his face. "Why didn't you tell me or Vladimir that you knew how to speak our native tongue?

Wanting to be a bit annoying, Euthymius squinted his eyes and said: "None of you asked."

Stefan lightly shook his head. He then glanced towards the other two below them. "They aren't able to understand us, right?"

"No, they aren't. Aro refuses to ever learn Romanian, because of your..." Euthymius trailed off as he examined the darkened expression of the other.

"Oh." Stefan let out looking away from Aro and looking down at his hands.

"Stefan." The greek male called, sending shivers down the body of the male next to him. "I want to say that I'm extremely sorry and humiliated by the way the coven handled your case. I know that an apology won't ever fix the levels of mass erasure and hurt that he brought to your empire. If I could turn back time, I would try to stop them from doing such an awful thing, not just because of the both of you, but because no one deserves to go through the slaughter that you underwent."

"You weren't involved in any of the decisions?" He asked hoarsely, catching onto the distance he omitted in his speech.

"I wasn't. During that time I was travelling the world, in hopes of finding my mate. I had decided to take a break after Caius..." He trailed off, clenching his jaw.

"After Caius what?"

"It's not important, I'll tell you someday." The man promised the other, looking up at the starry sky.

Stefan inspected the face of the Greek male thoroughly."Would that include telling Vladimir?"

Euthymius hesitated severely, his head tilting to the side and on face appeared the beginning of a downwards smile at the worry the other had for his friend.

"It's great to see you interacting with your mate, my brother." Aro spoke from beneath them, during their interruption. A sort of spite resonated from his voice. "I'm certain you two are talking about...great things."

The Greek male looked down at his older brother with an unreadable gaze, but a polite expression was plastered on his face

Sulspicia nodded in greeting to him, both exchanging a look.

Euthymius squinted his eyes at his brother and slightly smiled in a mysterious way. He then looked at Stefan with a curious look to the eyes of the Romanian.

"Yes, great things indeed."
