Chapter 25 Havannah

            The next three weeks dragged on. I went to school, avoided everyone, and survived until break. We had one more day before Kat, Sky, and I flew to England. We were shopping for the boys and my siblings Christmas present. Kat and I are going to my dad’s tonight to give them their gifts. I bought Heaven and Hailey make-up and a couple of shirts. I bought Mick an army Lego set and a camouflage tent. Heath’s getting a gift card to Hollister and my dad, well, he’s getting shit. Literally. We found a pile of dog poop in the park and Kat got this bright idea to pick it up in one of those doggy bags and wrap it up. So we did. To be funny Kat bought Zayn a Niall t-shirt, Liam a Zayn t-shirt, Niall a Josh t-shirt (Don’t ask me how she found that), Louis a Harry t-shirt, and Harry a Louis t-shirt. I bought Niall a human sized teddy bear and chocolate. You don’t know how many text I’ve received from that child about wanting a teddy bear. I got Zayn gift cards to a bunch of different stores. I bought Liam a glow-in-the-dark batman shirt and Harry a couple of outfits. Louis was a special case. Not only did I have to buy him a Christmas present, but I had to buy him a birthday present too. I figured I’d get him a nice birthday present since he was turning twenty-one. I’d save the payback present for Christmas. So I got him suspenders and skinny jeans for his birthday and for Christmas I got him a cardboard cut-out of himself, but I’m going to draw on it with a sharpie. I smiled to myself at my plan. We met back up in the parking lot. Me and Kat showed our gifts while Sky stood there. “What did you get them?” I asked cautiously due to her silence. Things were never good if she was quiet.

            “I bought all five of them boxers and socks since that’s the only thing they wear.” Well that wasn’t as bad as I thought. I was about to speak when she cut me off. “But I went to Spencer’s and found some… interesting things.” She pulled out this packet of papers.

            “Do I even want to know?” I asked pointing at what she was holding.

            “They’re sex coupons.” Me and Kat’s jaws dropped. Sky just smiled and signaled for us to hold on. She reached into another bag and pulled out this skimpy, purple piece of something. If that was supposed to be clothing, they were doing it wrong. “It’s lingerie.”

            “Oh my god Sky.” Kat blurted out. “Who did you buy those for?” she looked at Kat like she was stupid.

            “Well Harry of course. It’s about time him and Vannah sealed the deal. I figured I’d help.” I froze before choking on air.

            “What?” I demanded. She just winked.

            “Come on Vannah! You have a non-existent sex life and you’re a seventeen year old virgin. You need my help.” I just shook my head and walked to Kat’s car because, well, she was right.

            I picked at the bejeweled letters on my hot pink shirt. The gifts were sitting in the back seat while Kat and I screamed the lyrics to ‘Sexy and I Know It’. We pulled up to dads and grabbed the gifts before knocking on the door. He answered it with a smile that fell when he saw it was us. “Well if it isn’t my whore of a daughter and her bitch of a friend.” He spat in disgust. Kat smiled sweetly.

            “Long time, no see dick.” She said putting an emphasis on the ‘k’ and he reluctantly waved us in. Not much had changed since I’d been kicked out. I was suddenly wrapped in a hug around my waist. I looked down to find Mick smiling up at me. I messed up his hair and squatted so I could look him in his eyes.

            “Hey Mick.” I already felt tears in my eyes. He had a huge bruise near his collarbone. Two more months. I sighed and motioned for Kat to hand me his presents. When I handed him the wrapped packages his sad eyes lit up.

            “Thanks Vannah!” he yelled and ran towards his room. At the sound of my name the house shook. Heath came flying through the basement door right when Hailey and Heaven rounded the kitchen corner. Heath picked me up and spun me around while the girls were hitting him and telling him to put me down. Once my feet were back on the ground two pairs of arms squeezed all the breath out of me. I looked over at where dad was sitting and he looked completely disgusted. I flipped him off and hugged the girls. I gave them their gifts and got ready to leave. When I handed dad his gift his face scrunched up. The odor wasn’t pleasing, but oh well. Kat held in a laugh. All the kids and Heath were surprised that we got him a present, so they stayed to watch him open it. Before he even began to open it, Kat spoke up.

            “You’re going to love it Daniel.” She smiled sweetly. He cautiously opened the box and a look of horror crossed his face.

            “What the hell!” he held up the bag of poop and the room erupted in laughter. Dad’s face turned bright red with anger. I smiled and held the door open for Kat who gave Mick a quick high-five before scurrying out the door. I turned back to dad.

            “We had to get you something you were worthy of.” He looked utterly shocked. “This is the closest thing to you we could find.” I added before walking out of the door smiling.

I will come back for my childeren.
