Tyler didn't talk to Josh for the rest of the week; or at least, he hadn't written a single line for his friend to read. He only ignored Josh, staring out the window even if he knew he was right there beside him.

Josh was becoming exhausted with their new routine; he was barely sleeping in fear that in the morning he'd find that Tyler had done something horrible to himself.

He was so broken, and Josh was afraid his friend was tearing himself apart.

He knew there needed to be a change.

Which was why he sat in front of his computer, researching whatever he could in desperate hopes of finding anything that could help Tyler.

That's when he found her.

She specialized in sign language, and was working as a volunteer for an organization that helped people who had become deaf, blind, or mute due to accidents or health issues.

He clicked on her photo through his computer, and it when it loaded, he almost wanted to smile back at the picture. Her beautifully white teeth showed as she smiled widely, posing in a bright dress outdoors.. She looked truly happy.

And happy was exactly what Tyler needed.

That's when he decided he'd call her.

He pulled out his phone and dialled the number that appeared on the website, before letting his finger hover over the call button for a moment. Taking a deep breath, he pressed it, brining the phone to his ear.

The phone rang a few times, before it stopped, a kind voice coming through the speaker.

"Hello, this is Ella speaking."

Josh froze, trying to think up what he should say.

"Uhh...hi." He mumbled, feeling his face flush nervously. "I'm Josh."

"Hi, Josh!" She had a warmness to her voice. "How can I help you?"

"Well...my friend.." he searched for the words. "He...lost his hearing. I saw you online.."

Little did he know that her green eyes lit up, not because the poor guy's best friend lost his hearing, but because she might actually get to use her skills for once.

It may have seemed that she was an expert on the website, but in reality, she had only helped one or two people, and they ended up turning down her services after a week or less.

Other than that, she was always met with doors closed in her face.

"Do you need my help?" She asked eagerly. .

"I mean...what do you do?"

"I specialize in teaching sign language, and helping family and friends grow closer through it." She spouted off quickly, before letting out a small laugh. "I can be a bit of a therapist. Unlicensed, of course...it's just because I like to talk."

Josh felt the corners of his mouth curl into a smile; maybe Tyler could use someone so optimistic.

"Can you teach me sign language, too?" He asked her.

"Oh, of course!" She spun around in her chair as she spoke.

Josh nodded on the other end of the phone. "Then you've got the job," he smiled. "He...needs something like this."

"Oh my gosh, you will not be disappointed." She bit her lower lip in excitement. She glanced at her calendar that hung on the wall, tilting her head. "My schedule is clear...we could start anytime, really."

Josh thought for a moment. "Tomorrow?"

She smiled. "Tomorrow sounds perfect. I'll just have one question."

"Sure, what do you need?"

"What's your friend's name?"

"Tyler. Tyler Joseph." He stated, and she repeated it, letting the name roll off of her tongue.

"Tyler."

The next day, Josh had cleaned his house as he waited for Ella to show up, all whilst attempting to keep Tyler from noticing that someone was coming.

He hadn't told Tyler about her yet, as he knew he wouldn't be very fond of the idea; it would take him a while to warm up, and Josh made a mental note to warn Ella of that.

Ella had been waiting impatiently all day to leave for Josh's; she was eager to meet Tyler and get to put her skills to use, because if she was being honest, she was getting rusty.

In her defence, she hadn't gotten a good chance to use sign language since she had learned; therefore, it would be good for her as well.

She didn't care that she didn't make money from this; it meant enough to her that she could help someone who was struggling; and working part-time at a bookstore was good enough income.

She loved being with people, however, she had no family nearby, and grew lonely.

She loved to meet all of the different people with their different stories; she just hadn't gotten to show them that she could truly help as a friend.

Perhaps this time would be different.

When it was time to clock out of work, she quickly did so before heading out to her car, excitement filling her chest as she drove off to meet Tyler and Josh.

Meanwhile, Josh realized that he hadn't checked on Tyler all day, and when he did, he found that he was still fast asleep, under a suffocating amount of blankets.

"Ughh God, Tyler.." he muttered to himself. "It's five in the afternoon."

He approached his friend, ripping his blankets off of him and giving him a rough shake.

Ella would be here any minute, why didn't he think to check in sooner?

Josh sighed as he shook Tyler again, who finally began to stir a bit.

He patted him on the shoulder. "Get up, Ty."

Tyler sat up groggily, glancing at the clock, before staring at Josh with a murderous look in his eyes.

Josh shrugged, mouthing a 'Sorry' to the cranky man.

Tyler slowly rose out of bed, stretching a little before lumbering over to his dresser and pulling out a black button-up shirt with flowers on it and a pair of black jeans. He then shooed Josh out of the room to get dressed, which he did in a slow, lazy way, before just running his hands through his mildly greasy hair instead of brushing.

Making his way back to the bed, he sat, eyes wandering over to the window.

What else was there to do?
