To those who don't know lava is Cole x Kai. I don't really ship lava. Usually, it's fanfics that get me into non-canon ships since I generally stick to canon stuff. I haven't read many lava fanfics but I am hoping to get more into it. (Please recommend some of your favourites if you wish!)

Nya_ninjago_fangirl has been so supportive and kind to me and I wanted to think of a way to thank them without just thanking them. 😂

So I thought a cute little one-shot of one of their favourite ships would be a good way to show my appreciation!

"Okay, I got this!" Kai said confidently. He tugged at his collar, flipping the white fabric up as he strode confidentially across the room.

He got about halfway there before the unfairly attractive young man laughed at something his friend said. Kai's heart plummeted to his toes and suddenly he was abruptly turning on his heel and speed walking back to the booth. Nya shook her head with an amused smile as Kai plunked back into his seat to despondently slurp at his milkshake, his eyes trailing back to the boy at the table by the window.

"I don't see how he is different from anyone else you've gone out with!" Nya jabbed him roughly in the shoulder so Kai would look at her. "You're always telling me how hot you are! Why get the cold feet now?"

Kai gave a harsh laugh, swirling his straw in the pink liquid. "Uh- have you seen him?" Kai gave a glance that was about as subtle as a clown, then zeroed his gaze back onto the smoothie.

Nya rolled her eyes but looked over to give the guy a good look. He was tall, broad shouldered, with a beautiful dark complexion and mysterious brown eyes. The guy was clearly fit with strong muscles straining against his t-shirt even as he simply sat there. Nya flushed a little before slowly giving an appreciative nod.

"Alright, I see what you mean." Kai smirked but Nya then grimaced as handsome boy began stuffing his face with a sandwich. Nya waved her hands and looked away in disgust.

"Ewww! Never mind! I don't see it!"

Kai laughed. "You would stop crushing on someone just because of how they eat?"

Nya wrinkled her nose. "I'm sorry but I'm not attracted enough to him to put up with that. I need someone who wants to look nice around me. Someone sweet and caring." She sighed dreamily.

"Well, I'm not dissuaded." Kai joined in the forlorn sound, propping his chin on his hand was he watched the beautiful stranger inhale his cookie. "Too bad he's too pretty."

"Hey," Nya kicked him in the shins and jerked her thumb in the guy's direction. "I've seen you convince a meat enthusiast to go to a vegan restaurant, I think you can get a date with a slob like him."

Kai still looked a little doubtful, avoiding her gaze to watch the whipping cream mix with the pink shake. "I don't know..." He huffed, leaning over to take a sip.

Nya grabbed the drink from under his nose, making Kai yell in complaint. "Order a new one with Mr. Cookie-Face." Nya told him, standing up with the milkshake and sashaying her way over to the raven's table.

Kai's eyes widened in horror. "Wait- no! Nya! Nya? Get back here!"

The girl promptly ignored him. She dropped the glass into the table with a thump, making the guy and his friend jump in surprise and stare at her. Nya tossed her hair over her shoulder and smiled sweetly at them.

"Hi!" Nya said cheerfully.

"Uh... hey?" Kai's crush said in the confusion. His ginger friend simply babbled indecipherable words to the side.

"I'm Nya," Nya told them causally with a wink. "I noticed you pulled up in what looked to be a reformed Serpentine 32. I was wondering who did that."

The blue-eyed friend swallowed nervously. "I-I did."

"Really?" Nya's eyes brightened with interest. "How did you do that?"

Cole watched cheekily, a big grin on his face as Jay and the random girl, Nya, began rapidly talking about mechanics and engineering. The technical talk flew right over his head but he was more than entertained watching as Jay's face slowly became redder and redder as Nya complemented his ideas. Cole felt eyes on him and he couldn't help but notice that Nya kept on sending him looks out of the corner of her eyes, as if she was waiting for him to leave. Cole's mouth formed on 'o' and he made to stand up.

"Well, I don't really know anything about this stuff," Cole said awkwardly. "So I guess I'll just take my leave..." Cole nearly jumped in surprise when the girl stopped him abruptly.

"No!" She exclaimed, then quickly corrected her tone. "Uh, why don't you keep my brother company? He doesn't really like this stuff either." Nya gestured to a brunette looking at them carefully from the other side of the diner.

"Um..." Cole couldn't really think of any reason not to. "Okay." Cole grabbed his last cookie and stuffed it in his mouth, grabbing his coat as he passed by. Jay's eyes were panicked, screaming, "Don't leave me!" in one desperate look.

Cole gave him what he thought was an encouraging smile and a thumbs up. Cole was aware of Nya pointedly waiting for him to leave so he quickly gave her an awkward salute and high-tailed it out of there before she could gain laser eyes and disintegrate him.

Cole wandered to where Nya's brother was sitting. He stared at Cole with and expression he couldn't quite read. Was it shock? Annoyance? His amber eyes just seemed to bore into him in a way that must've been genetic because only Nya had ever looked at him so deeply. He was an attractive guy, handsome face, striking eyes, and luscious overly-styled hair. The young man looked like a model. Cole suddenly felt very exposed under his calculating look.

"Hey," Cole cleared her throat and tried to focus on the plant over the other man's shoulder. "I'm Cole." He held out his hand for a shake.

Seriously? What are you, fifty? Cole kicked himself.

To his surprise the brother took it. Cole felt something weird tingle in his chest as a warm palm enveloped his own. Cole barely remember to shake it before the brunette was hastily retreating his hand.

"Kai." He nodded curtly, a small smirk twitched in his lips. There was something so endearing in that small movement. It pulled Cole in and dragged him into a sea of emotions he's never experienced before.

Cole replied with a wide smile of his own. "It's nice to meet you."

One gaze met another.

Brown met amber.

And suddenly Cole was wondering if this was a heart attack or if he was in love.

The last line was used from Reinaeiry's song How Lovely. I know I've already done a fanfic based on that song but I love that line so much 😂

Updates have been very slow with my books, I'm sorry about that. First I had hives for four days then I had a rash, and then I felt really really tired so I've just been using these few weeks for myself. 😊

I'm getting some really interesting inspiration so I'll try and update soon!

Thank you Maria for chatting with me and listening to me. I'm not sure what inspired me to write this for you but I've long stopped trying to work out why I do things. 😂
