Chapter 45: Left & Missing

LIKE a blink of an eye, many days have passed and their two weeks are almost up. Today is Wednesday and they only have two more days before the Board Meeting on Friday, but still Veronica did not show up.

Right now, at the living room in Terrence and Veronica's residence, pabalik balik ng lakad si Trisha habang kanina pa tinatawagan si Jhade na ngayun hindi na ma contact.

That woman just left a few hours ago and now she's missing! She was not in her room when they tried to wake her up this morning. She only left a note saying;

To my dearest Trisha. I am bored as hell! Aalis muna ako para magpahangin. Babalik ako bago magsimula ang Board meeting. Paki handa na lang ang magiging speech ko. Salamat at mamimiss din kita.

Nagmamahal- Jhade.

Last week, they already explained to Ms. Gabrielle about Veronica's situation and told her that she still could not talk to her personally.

Good thing, the lady is very understanding and still willing to help them talk to Luna kahit na wala pa siyang binabanggit kung saan nila mahahanap si Luna o kung pumayag na siya sa collaboration.

Ms. Gabrielle did not answer them directly but just told them that Luna would definitely show up.

Kahapon lang din, they had decided that Jhade would still show up or act as Veronica in the Board meeting.

"Wala ka bang idea kung saan natin siya pweding hanapin?" Francis asked bago inilagay sa coffee table ang laptop na kanina niya pa hawak.

"Wala na akong maisip. Hindi ko din alam kung saan ko mahahanap yung mga kilala ni Jhade." Trisha answered helplessly.

Kahit na alam nilang si Jhade yung umalis, they still look around at Madam Victorina's Villa but as expected wala din siya doon maybe because Jhade is not that attached to Madam Victorina.

Last Sunday, Madam Victorina's funeral gathering ended and they had to bury her. She thought that would make Veronica show up but she didn't, pero naglagay siya ng mga tauhan niya sa kung saan nakalibing ang mga namayapang lolo at lola ni Veronica.

Parehong natahamik ang dalawa na tela nag iisip.

Parang pagod na napaupo si Trisha sa sofa habang nakahawak sa ulo. Ang tigas talaga ng ulo ng babaeng yun! Ilang beses na nilang sinabihan na hindi siya pweding umalis.

Trisha and Francis stayed in this house these last few days just to keep an eye on that woman but Jhade just let their guard down and ran away without them knowing and now she is nowhere to be seen!

Sabay naman napatingin ang dalawa nang bumukas ang pinto. Pareho silang napatayo nang makita si Terrence na pumasok ng bahay.

He had dark circles under his eyes and he did not shave the stubbles, above and under his lips. Naging mas mature pa ang dating niya at makikita ang pagod sa mga mata niya na para bang ilang araw siyang walang tulog.

"Kailan ka nakalabas?" Trisha asked, surprised.

Terrence was inside the prison for more than a week because of the charges filed against him. Itinuloy ni Monica ang mga demanda sa kanya and they knew that it was also instigated by the three other Ferolinos.

"Ngayun lang." He simply answered.

The truth is, Terrence could have avoided going to prison if he wanted to since there is no solid evidence and Claire's statement is not that concrete and consistent.

But Terrence chose not to fight the charges and stayed still in the prison. That was his only way to protect Veronica from the critics and negative public opinion. Even if Veronica did nothing wrong, he is still willing to take all the blame and be her shield from media bashing.
